Inside wire
is the wiring on your side of the NID or ONT, which is the responsibility of the premise owner to maintain. This includes:
The wiring from the NID or ONT through the walls of the premise
Phone jacks and/or ethernet outlets
Any exposed wiring from a jack to your PVR, digital box, modem or other internet device
Some customers may feel that, especially since they are paying for internet services, that TELUS is responsible for inside wiring, but this is not the case. We do provide some inside wiring work as part of our service installation, however any additional work is chargeable. Consider your electrical provider: you wouldn’t call the electrical company to fix the electrical wiring in your walls, and the same applies to telecommunications.
In most cases, there are no charges for repairs on TELUS-owned wiring.
If you rent property, the inside wiring is the responsibility of the building owner. If you own a condo, wires that are inside or in close proximity of your unit are your responsibility, and all other in-building wiring repair and maintenance is the responsibility of your building property manager.
