Using a password lock

Your device can be secured with a password making it so no one can get into your device without entering your password. If you forget your password you will have to reset your device and you will lose any information that is not backed up.

From the Home screen, drag down the Notification panel.

Tap the Settings icon.

Scroll to Security.

Tap Security.

Tap Screen lock.

Tap Password.
Note: For this tutorial, we're showing how to set up a password. You can select a different type of security, but steps may vary based on what you choose.

Enter your password.
Note: Your password must be at least 4 characters long.

Tap Next.

Confirm your password.

Tap Confirm.

Select a notification preference.
Note: Tap Hide sensitive content to prevent the content of emails, texts and other notifications from appearing on the Lock screen. You'll be notified that you have a new message, but not shown what the message contains.
