Turning on Private Address will make it harder to track your device across Wi-Fi networks. Turning this on or off will require you to Rejoin the network.

  1. Note: To access Wi-Fi, devices need to use a media access control (MAC) address. If the device keeps the same MAC address across all the Wi-Fi networks that it uses, the user can be tracked based on which Wi-Fi networks they access. Using Private Address will randomize your device's MAC address to make it harder for your device to be tracked. Turning on Private Address may require you to sign into some public Wi-Fi networks, such as hotels, restaurants, apartment complexes, more often to re-authenticate your device.
