Setting iPhone to silent

Apple iPhone 8 on iOS 16.0.0

Silent mode will quiet your device's notifications. When your device is in silent mode, it will not make a sound to notify you of incoming notifications. You can set it to vibrate to alert you to incoming notifications with vibrations instead of sound.

  1. Note: Do Not Disturb mode silences all calls and notifications.

    From the Home screen, tap Settings.

    The indicator is towards the right.
  3. Step 2/7

    Tap Focus.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
  4. Step 3/7

    Tap Do Not Disturb.

    Note: From this screen, you can view and edit your Do Not Disturb options.

    The indicator is towards the top.
  5. Step 4/7

    To turn Do Not Disturb on, drag down from the top right portion of your screen to access the Control Center.

    Note: If you are using a device with a home button, swipe up from the bottom of your screen.

    The indicator is in the top right.
  6. Step 5/7

    Tap Focus to view your current Focus options.

    The indicator is towards the left.
  7. Step 6/7

    Tap Do Not Disturb.

    Note: Tapping Do Not Disturb again will turn it OFF.

    The indicator is towards the top.
