Adjusting your auto-lock and brightness preferences

Apple iPhone 6S Plus on iOS 15.4.0

Changing the length of time before the lock screen shows up, known as screen timeout, and brightness of your device can impact your battery life. Decreasing the time of inactivity before your device goes to sleep and lowering the brightness of your device can help extend your device's battery life.

    From the Home screen, tap Settings.

    The indicator is towards the right.

    Scroll to Display & Brightness.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
  3. Step 3/8

    Tap Display & Brightness.

    The indicator is in the center.
  4. Step 4/8

    Tap Auto-Lock.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.

    Select your Auto-Lock preferences.

    Note: Decrease the Auto-Lock time to help extend iPhone battery life and increase security.

    The indicator is towards the top.

    Tap Back.

    The indicator is in the top left.
  7. Step 7/8

    Select your brightness preference.

    Note: Decrease your brightness to help extend iPhone battery life.

    The indicator is towards the right.
