Setting up Screen Time as a parent

Apple iPad mini 4 on iOS 14.0.0

You can set up your child's device to manage their screen time. Depending on your device, you may be able to set a daily screen time limit or limit the time a child can spend in an app.

  1. Note: With Screen Time, you can set parental controls for the accounts you are connected to via Family Sharing. You can set rules for all devices or customize them individually.

    From the Home screen, tap Settings.

    Select the family member you'd like to set up Screen Time for.

    Tap Turn On Screen Time.

    Note: With Screen Time, you can limit when you can access certain apps on your iOS devices. During this time, only apps you select and phone calls will be available. These settings will apply to all your devices sharing the same Apple ID.

    Note: To access these features, you'll need to set up a Screen Time passcode. This is different than your Lock screen passcode.

    Note: From this next screen, you'll be able to set up customized downtime, app limits, and content restrictions for an individual account on your Family Sharing plan.
