Install and link Smart Remote for Optik TV

Instructions for installing Optik Smart Remote on your mobile device

As of June 26, the Optik TV Smart Remote app will no longer be supported. Manage your PVR recordings, stream live shows and access thousands of On Demand titles — all on the go. For more information go to

Please visit Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your mobile device to download the Optik TV mobile app:

Install Optik Smart Remote on your smartphone

  1. Set up your Optik TV account
  2. From your mobile device, select your device's app store
  3. Select Search store, then enter TELUS
  4. Select Search
  5. Select Optik Smart Remote. The Info screen displays
  6. Select Install app
  7. Enter your ID password, then select OK
  8. Wait until the installation is completed

Link Optik Smart Remote to your digital box

  1. From your remote control, press Menu
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Smart Remote
  4. Select Add mobile device and press OK. A linking code will be generated onscreen
  5. Move to your mobile device. Launch Optik Smart Remote and go to Settings
  6. Select Manage links
  7. Select Link to a new digital box
  8. Select the digital box ID that matches the one on your TV screen
  9. Enter a descriptive name. For example, Man Cave
  10. You have now finished linking your mobile device

Note: You can link up to 10 mobile devices for each digital box in your home. If you have reached the maximum number of linked devices, you will need to delete one before you can add another.

If you would like to control your digital box with your mobile device, you will need to link it to each box separately.

If you are having trouble pairing, please try the following:

  • Make sure you are connected to your TELUS home Wi-Fi
  • Make sure have logged in using the same Optik TV account as your digital box
  • Try the connection test button under Setting > Manage links
  • If none of these work for you, please reboot your digital box and retry the paring process
