Schedule installation: After your purchase, log into your My TELUS account. There, you can schedule an installation appointment. You’ll find out if your address is eligible during this process.
How do I know if my home and smart thermostat are compatible?
Your home’s thermostat needs to match both the wiring and voltage of your cooling and heating systems.
Low voltage
Low-voltage systems usually have one central heating or cooling source controlled by a single thermostat that provides heat or AC to multiple rooms.
These are ducted systems, hydronic or radiator based, run by heating fuels such as gas, oil, water, wood, etc.
Examples: Furnace heating, forced air, ducted heat pumps, and boilers.
The voltage rating on the thermostat may show 12v or 24v.
High voltage systems:
Often have multiple thermostats in the home, sometimes even multiple per room, and powered entirely by electricity.
Examples: Baseboard heaters, fan-forced heaters, in-ceiling radiant heat, and electric in-floor heating.
The thermostat will have a warning label or show the voltage rating 120v - 240v.
Wiring
You may need a C-wire (aka common wire) in your existing thermostat for your new smart thermostat to be compatible. You’ll have to take the front panel off to see what kind of wire you have.
