To install your Control Panel, make sure you have the following in addition to the included equipment:

Choosing the location of your Control Panel is an important decision because the rest of the system will be designed and tested to work with the device in that location. Any movement of the Control Panel after the installation should be kept to a minimum.

__Here are some tips for selecting the location of your Control Panel__:

__✓__  Make sure this is a convenient location in the home - usually near the main entrance

__✓__  Your Control Panel should be in close proximity to a power outlet

__✓__  The location should be within Wi-Fi range

__Note__: If you are experiencing connectivity problems after your installation, double check your Control Panel has not been moved. If yes, make sure the panel is relocated back to the original location and see if this resolves your issues.

Installing your Control Panel / Where to place your Control Panel

After your Control Panel is set up, it will periodically upgrade to ensure you have all of the features available in addition to ensuring your system continues to operate smoothly. Make sure your panel is connected to a working Wi-Fi connection in your home to download the latest firmware. When new firmware is available for upgrading, your panel will download the update and reboot once your system is disarmed.  

The latest update available for your panel is Firmware 2.5.2. This release allows you to [__enable Scenes on your Control Panel__](https://www.telus.com/en/support/article/enabling-scenes-control-panel). If you are not on the latest firmware, call TELUS at 1-855-255-8828.

__Get the TELUS SmartHome+ app__

Download the TELUS SmartHome+ app and then log in with your My TELUS credentials. You can download the TELUS SmartHome+ app on [Apple App Store](https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/telus-smarthome/id6473057948) or [Google Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.telus.smarthome).

__Add the SmartHome+ Panel to your account__

1. Log in to the TELUS SmartHome+ app on your mobile device. 
2. In the SmartHome+ app, select the __+__ sign in the top right-hand corner of either your __Home__ tab or __Devices__ tab.
3. Select __Device__ on the bottom sheet that appears.
4. Select __SmartHome+ controllers__ from the device category list.
5. Select __Next__ and follow the in-app setup instructions.

1. The IMEI number is on the back of the panel below the barcode. You can identify it by the format "__IMEI: 123456789012345__".
2. Enter the last four digits of the IMEI number.

Take your IQ4 NS panel, using a small screwdriver, loosen the bottom screw at the back of the panel and then take off the backplate.

Find the four cables (red, yellow, black and white) attached to the white port. Insert it into the black input on the panel’s left-side.

Thread the power cable (barrel side) through the backplate hole and connect it to the barrel jack on the panel’s bottom right-side.

Return the backplate to its original position and tighten the screw. Lastly, route the cable through the cable guide so that it lies flat.

For the best performance, place the panel in:

- An area with good cellular network coverage (for first-time setup only).
- A central location for optimal range with smart home devices.
- A flat surface, as this is a tabletop device.
- A clear area. Avoid closed spaces or behind or below large objects. Refrain from placing objects on top of your panel to maintain good device connectivity.

How to set up your SmartHome+ panel / Step 7: Place the panel

1. Power up the panel: Plug the power cable into an outlet.
2. Wait for the LED light: The panel's power (left) and status (right) LEDs will turn solid green, indicating the panel is ready to be linked to your account.
    - If the lights don’t appear, hold the power button for three seconds.
3. Press __Next__ to proceed (in the app).

How to set up your SmartHome+ panel / Step 8: Turn on the panel

The SmartHome+ app will automatically start searching for your Panel. Once the panel is found:

1. Select __Connect to Wi-Fi__.
2. When presented with the option, connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
3. Enter your Wi-Fi network password if or when prompted.
4. Select __Continue__ once the device connection is successful.


How to set up your SmartHome+ panel / Step 9: Connect to your Wi-Fi network

After applying panel settings for the first time, the app will prompt you to name your device. 

1. Enter the name you would like to give to your panel.
2. Select __Save__ in the top right-hand corner to save your changes.
3. Your panel is now set up.

The panel gives you full control over your smart home, letting you easily manage devices like lights, locks and switches. Connect your first device and start exploring.

In the event that you need to move the panel from one location to another, it's safe to unplug the power supply while leaving the battery plugged in.

__Missing something in the box__

Get in touch with us by booking a callback from the __Support__ section of the SmartHome+ app.

__IMEI number doesn't match or something went wrong__

- Check the panel's IMEI, not the one listed on the box/package.
- Re-enterthe IMEI number, ensuring it's the last four digits only.

If this issue persists, get in touch with us by booking a callback from the __Support__ section of the SmartHome+ app.

__The panel will not power on__

- Check that the power adapter is firmly connected to both the panel and the wall outlet.
- Check that the power outlet is active by trying to plug it in any other device.
- If there are no issues with the outlet and the power adapter is firmly connected, remove the panel backplate, check that the battery is connected properly. Connect the power cable and re-attach the panel backplate.

If the issue persists, get in touch with us by booking a callback from the __Support__ section of the SmartHome+ app.

__The LED light isn’t solid green__

- Make sure the panel is in cellular network range (if your mobile phone has a network next to where the panel is being set up, then your panel should too).
- Tap __Next__ on the __Turn on Panel__ screen and advance to __Searching for device__ if the app cannot find the panel, retry the process when prompted.

If the issue persists, get in touch with us by booking a callback from the __Support__ section of the SmartHome+ app.

__Device not found__

- Check that the power adapter is firmly connected to both the panel and the wall outlet.
- Check that the power outlet is active by trying to plug it in any other device.
- If there are no issues with the outlet and the power adapter is firmly connected, remove the panel backplate and check that the battery is connected properly. Connect the power cable and re-attach the panel backplate.
- Make sure the panel is in cellular network range (if your mobile phone has network next to where the panel is being setup, then your panel should too).
- Look for the status LED to turn solid green.

If the issue persists, get in touch with us by booking a callback from the __Support__ section of the SmartHome+ app.

__No networks found__

- Please double-check that your device is turned on and in close enough proximity to your router.
- The network list is retrieved from the panel's Wi-Fi network search (not your mobile phone's). If your mobile phone isn't seeing any Wi-Fi networks, your panel likely won't either
- Check that the panel still has power (power LED).
- Check that the status is solid green.
- Select __Next__ to retry the scan for networks.
- Select __Add Wi-Fi network__ to manually assign an SSID and password to the panel.

__The Wi-Fi strength is weak or can’t connect to the Wi-Fi__

- The Wi-Fi signal strength at your panel's location is weak. This may result in unreliable connections and performance issues. 
- On your smartphone, open your browser (Safari on Apple iPhones or Google Chrome on Android phones) and visit [telus.com/SpeedTest](https://www.telus.com/speedtest) to determine the internet speed in the area you’ve placed your panel.
- We recommend setting up your panel closer to your Wi-Fi router or clearing the path between them to ensure a stable connection.
- If you aren’t getting a Wi-Fi signal or your Wi-Fi signal is weak, please contact your internet service provider. You might need to upgrade your plan to get more upload bandwidth or to improve your home's Wi-Fi coverage.

__Can't connect to the Wi-Fi__

- Ensure you are connecting to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- Verify that you are able to connect to the same Wi-Fi network with any other device (e.g. mobile phone or tablet).
- Connect your mobile phone to the same Wi-Fi network you wish your panel to connect to.
- Re-enter the password.

If you are having issues pairing your Z-Wave devices, or if your devices have stopped responding, do the following:

2. __Factory reset your Automation Hub__: If power cycling your Automation Hub does not resolve your issue, you can factory reset your Automation Hub.
   - __Warning__: You will need to re-pair all of your Z-Wave devices to the Automation Hub again. __If this is the first time you are installing the TELUS SmartHome Security system__, before you install your sensors, make sure to follow the step-by-step guide included in the box first. After you complete these steps and successfully set up the Control Panel, you can then add more devices to your account.

To add a sensor to your security system, use your TELUS SmartHome app and follow the instructions below:

1. Log in to your TELUS SmartHome app on your mobile device
2. Select __More__ on the bottom right-hand corner

3. Select __+ Add Device__

4. Select __Security__

5. Select your device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup

Once all of your sensors are added successfully, you will be shown how to complete a walk test to confirm that each sensor is working as expected. If you experience any issues at any time during your installation, please call TELUS at __1-855-255-8828__.

Installing your 4-Button Keyring Remote / Installing your sensor using the mobile app

__I am unable to add the sensor to my TELUS SmartHome Security system__

If you are unable to add the 4-Button Keyring Remote, try resetting your device. First, press and hold the * button until the LED lights steady (takes about 5-10 seconds). Then, release the key while the LED is still lit. This will reset the device and you can now re-add your device.

__How to test my 4-Button Keyring Remote__

To test your 4-Button Keyring Remote after the installation is complete, see instructions below:

| __Activate__     | __Procedure__     |
| ---------- | ---------- |
| Away Arm       | Hold button for 1 second, Control Panel should now show Arm Away status       |
| Disarm       | Hold button for 1 second, Control Panel should now show Disarm status       |
| Arm Stay       | Hold button for 1 second, Control Panel should now show Arm Stay status       |
| Panic       | Before you test this button, call TELUS at 1-855-255-8828 to put your account into test mode first. Next, hold the button for 3 seconds. Your Control Panel should now be in alarm mode.       |
