Through one simple app, you can easily monitor and control your home’s devices and appliances from anywhere. And with the convenience of customization and automation options, you can maximize your home’s energy savings with minimal effort.

One way you can start adopting energy saving habits in your home is by participating in peak-time energy savings events with SmartEnergy. Not only will you lower your energy bill, you’ll also earn TELUS Rewards points. TELUS Rewards points can be redeemed for gift cards, draw entries or the latest tech products available in the

catalogue.

To help you maximize your earnings, the SmartHome+ app can automatically enter you into these energy saving events. Or, you can easily opt out of the events.

Depending on the smart device, you may be able to set up automation routines that will help you conserve energy.

As we enhance our app’s features, you’ll see a growing list of curated automation routines, as well as personalized recommendations to help you automate your devices and save more.

These are events that promote lower energy consumption and are mainly scheduled during the daytime when the demand for electricity is the highest.

When you participate in an energy savings event, the smart devices in your home that are connected to the SmartHome+ app will automatically lower in temperature (in the case of a smart thermostat) or turn off altogether (in the case of smart plugs), and will automatically turn up or on again when the event is over.

Participation in an energy savings event is completely optional. You have full control over which devices get included in an event or if you participate in an event at all. Energy savings events typically last from one to two hours and take place approximately once a week.

Successful participation in an event not only reduces your energy consumption, but will also earn you TELUS Rewards points.

Use your TELUS Rewards points to get discounts and savings from top brands or you can enter contests, redeem gift cards‌ and more.

TELUS SmartEnergy will help you save on your energy bills for heating/cooling and general electricity use. A consolidated view of your savings across all of your energy providers is not currently available in the SmartHome+ app. This feature will be available in the future.

The biggest source of savings for SmartEnergy subscribers comes from using automated routines to turn down your smart thermostat when comfort allows and turn off devices connected to smart plugs when not in use. A good example would be setting up a routine that turns off your plugs and lowers the temperature in your home while you’re asleep.

Similar routines can be set up for times when you’re at work or on vacation. Use the to learn what is costing you the most and set a routine to help lower your energy consumption.
