How to book and prepare for your SmartHome+ and SmartEnergy professional installation
Important reminders to prepare for your SmartHome+ professional installation
Here’s a list of things you need to review before your technician appointment to ensure a smooth and speedy SmartHome+ installation.

: You must have your devices on-hand and delivered to your home prior to the appointment.
Check your eligibility and book your appointment
Professional installation is offered for most devices and in most major cities across Canada for a flat fee*. Follow these simple steps to book your appointment:
Check if you’re eligible
:
Ensure that you have checked to see if your current setup is compatible with the thermostat you want to purchase. Leverage the thermostat compatibility checker on the
(you will find the checker on the respective thermostat product page).
Additionally, ensure that you have a c-wire available at your thermostat for wiring. If not, you may need to install a c-wire adapter or have a certified HVAC professional run a c-wire for you. TELUS technicians cannot do this work as it requires specialty certifications. TELUS technicians will complete thermostat installations where the c-wire is present at the thermostat.
Purchase your device
: Add the desired device and subscription to your cart and complete your purchase.
If you ordered any of the following devices, review the checklist items below to ensure you meet the equipment and set-up requirements prior to your installation appointment.
If the technician arrives and it’s determined that your device is not compatible (i.e. you need a high-voltage thermostat), you’ll be charged for the visit.
Thermostat compatibility check

TELUS technicians cannot do this work as it requires specialty certifications. TELUS technicians will complete thermostat installations where the c-wire is present at the thermostat.
TELUS Indoor and Outdoor Cameras

Check for a working standard electrical outlet nearby to power the camera. Drilling may be required to run the power cable if no outlets are available.
Check that the location has a good Wi-Fi signal (you’ll need at least 2.5 Mbps of upload speed for each camera you want installed). Go to the location where you want to install your camera and check the upload speed on your phone or tablet at
: The Doorbell Camera is not compatible with most intercom systems or systems with video or loudspeaker stations.
You must have a working wired doorbell for the doorbell camera to be installed.
Check that the location has a good Wi-Fi signal (you’ll need at least 2.5 Mbps of upload speed for each camera you want installed). Go to the location where you want to install your camera and check the upload speed on your phone or tablet at
. You’ll receive a credit for your cancelled appointment within 10 business days.
Note
: Refunds may not be issued for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment.
Important
: If you’re unprepared when the technician arrives or you don’t have your devices in time for the appointment, you’ll be charged the full amount of the installation.
