Performing a factory reset

Apple Watch Series 4 on watchOS 8.0.1

A factory reset will erase all data from your device and is irreversible. This is good to do if you are going to trade in or sell your device. It will wipe all of your personal information from the device.

  1. Note: If you don't have your iPhone and can't unpair, you can still erase all content and settings on your Watch.

    There are no indicators associated with this step.
  2. Step 1/7

    From Settings, tap General.

    The indicator is in the center.
  3. Step 2/7

    Turn the Digital Crown to scroll to Reset.

    The indicator is towards the right.
  4. Step 3/7

    Tap Reset.

    The indicator is in the center.
  5. Step 4/7

    Tap Erase All Content and Settings.

    Note: If you added a cellular plan, you can choose to keep it or remove it on the next screen.

    The indicator is in the center.
  6. Step 5/7

    Turn the Digital Crown to scroll to Erase All.

    The indicator is towards the right.
  7. Step 6/7

    Tap Erase All.

    The indicator is in the center.
  8. Step 7/7

    You've completed the steps!
