Inserting and removing the nano SIM card

Learn how to insert and remove a SIM card from your device. Your cellular service is activated through your SIM card; without it you cannot use cellular features. Note that a SIM card tray removal tool may be needed.

  1. Note: Don't touch the gold contacts on your SIM card. That could damage the card. If you’re using a new SIM card, you can activate it by calling your carrier.

  2. Step 1/6

    Locate the nano SIM / nano SD card tray on the bottom of your device.

    Note: You must have a nano SIM card inserted in your phone to place calls, access the internet, download apps and share pictures over your carrier's network.

  3. Step 2/6

    Press the card insertion/removal tool into the nano SIM / nano SD card tray pinhole and push in until the tray releases.

    The indicator is towards the right.
  4. Step 3/6

    Slide the nano SIM / nano SD card tray out of its slot.

    Note: A nano SIM card may already be inserted in your phone.

  5. Step 4/6

    Insert or remove the nano SIM card into or from the tray with the gold contacts facing the back of the phone.

    Note: Ensure you are inserting your SIM card into the side of the tray labeled as "SIM 1". Your device uses a nano SD card for external storage that has the same sized card slot.

    Press the nano SIM / nano SD card tray back into its slot until it clicks, making sure it's secure.
