Managing background app refresh

You can set battery usage allowances for certain apps on your device. If an app is using too much battery life or is behaving incorrectly, you can force stop the application.

  1. Note: Background app refresh allows apps to refresh their data on Wi-Fi or cellular networks in the background.

    From the Home screen, tap Settings.

    The indicator is towards the right.
  3. Step 2/8

    Scroll to and tap General.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
  4. Step 3/8

    Tap Background App Refresh.

    The indicator is in the center.
  5. Step 4/8

    Tap Background App Refresh again.

    The indicator is towards the top.
  6. Step 5/8

    Select your preferences.

    The indicator is towards the top.
  7. Step 6/8

    Tap Back.

    The indicator is in the top left.
  8. Step 7/8

    Select your preferences.

    Note: Turning off individual apps may help preserve battery life.
