Learn how to adjust notification settings for applications. You can have some applications notify you with a sound while others come in silently.

From the Home screen, tap Settings.

Tap Notifications.

Note: For this tutorial, we're showing how to manage notifications for Messages. You can select a different option, but steps may vary based on which app you choose.

Select the type of alerts you'd like to receive.
Note: You can also completely disable notifications for an app.

Note: Temporary notifications appear at the top of your screen and then disappear after several seconds. Persistent notifications must be dismissed manually.
