Teach your children how to dial 911 in the event of an emergency. They may need to know how to unlock your device.

  1. Note: Please read our Teaching Children How to Call 911 page before showing your child the steps below. It's best to call 911 from a landline, but if one isn't available follow these steps to call from your mobile phone.

    There are no indicators associated with this step.
  2. Step 1/6

    Press the Power button to wake up the phone.

    The indicator is towards the right.
  3. Step 2/6

    Swipe the screen in any direction to unlock the phone.

    Note: If you have additional screen security set on your phone (e.g., a PIN), be sure to show your child how to unlock it.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
  4. Step 3/6

    Tap Phone.

    The indicator is in the bottom left.
  5. Step 4/6

    Using the keypad, enter 911.

    Note: If necessary, tap the Keypad icon to open your keypad.

    The indicator is towards the right.
  6. Step 5/6

    Show your child where the Call icon is, but don't tap it unless there's an emergency.

    The indicator is towards the bottom.
