Update your Huawei E182E Mobile Internet Key

Before you update your mobile Internet key, you need to know your current firmware version.
Windows
- Insert the mobile Internet key into a USB port
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- Select Tools
- Select Diagnostics
- Select the Device tab
If your firmware version is not 13.001.08.05.464, you are eligible for a firmware upgrade.
Mac OS X
- Insert the mobile Internet key into a USB port
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- Select Tools
- Select Diagnostics
- Select the Device tab
If your Firmware version is not 13.305.06.02.464, you are eligible for a firmware upgrade.
You will need to ensure that:
- Your computer battery is fully charged or is connected to a power source
- All applications on your computer are closed
- The mobile Internet key remains connected to your computer during the upgrade
Download the firmware update to your computer
Windows
To download the firmware update to your computer, do the following.
- Download the firmware update from the Huawei website
- The File Download window appears. Select Save
Note: If this screen does not appear, you will need to disable the pop-up blocker from your browser's Tools menu - The Save As window appears. From the Save in menu, select Desktop
- Select Save. The file download begins
- When the download is complete, select Close
- The file icon appears on your Desktop
The firmware update is downloaded to your computer.
Install the firmware update
- From the Mobile Internet Key connection manager, select Disconnect
Note: Do not close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager window after you disconnect. - Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Remove the SIM card from your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB port
The following error appears: The SIM/USIM card has not been detected or is invalid. - Select OK
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager window
- From the Desktop, double-click E182E UTPS13.001.
- The Update Wizard window appears. Select Start
- The firmware installation begins. This can take up to five minutes
Note: Do not disconnect the mobile Internet key from your computer during the installation process - When the installation is finished, select Finish
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- The Setup window appears with the following message: "An earlier version has been installed. Do you want to remove it first?"
- Select Yes
- The Mobile Internet Key Uninstall Wizard window displays. Select Next
- Follow the on-screen prompts and select Finish
- The Mobile Internet Key Setup Wizard window displays. Select Next
- Follow the on-screen prompts and select Finish
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Insert the SIM card into your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB port
The firmware update is installed on your computer.
Mac OS X
To download the firmware update to your computer, do the following.
- Download the firmware update from Huawei
- The Downloads window appears. When the download is complete, select Clear and close the window
- Select Finder
- From the left pane, select the Home icon
- Double-click the Downloads folder
- Drag and drop the folder titled E182E UOTPS13 to your Desktop
- The file icon appears on your Desktop
The firmware update is downloaded to your computer.
Install the firmware update
To install the downloaded firmware update, do the following.
- From the Mobile Internet Key connection manager, select Disconnect
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager window
- Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Remove the SIM card from your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB port
- The Mobile Internet Key connection manager launches
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager window without selecting Connect
- From the Desktop, double-click E182E UOTPS13
- Double-click the Software version folder
- Double-click the file located in this folder
- The Update Wizard window appears. Select Start
- The firmware installation begins. This can take up to five minutes
Note: Do not disconnect the mobile Internet key from your computer during the installation process - Select Finish
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- The Mobile Internet Key Installer window appears. Select Continue
- Review the License Agreement and select Continue
- Select Agree
- Select Continue and follow the on-screen prompts
- When the installation is finished, select Close
- Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Insert the SIM card into your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB port
The firmware update is installed on your computer.
