The wiring is connected properly to the smart thermostat.
If you validated the above and the issues persist, read below for more information on how to troubleshoot connectivity issues with your smart thermostat.
Common troubleshooting steps related to thermostat connectivity and Wi-Fi issues
Check power supply
: Ensure that the thermostat has power. Since it's a wired device, check the circuit breaker to ensure power is reaching the thermostat.
Verify your home’s Wi-Fi connection status
: Make sure the Wi-Fi network is working and that the thermostat is connected to the correct network. Check the Wi-Fi signal strength at the thermostat’s location with another device such as your smartphone.
Restart thermostat
: Restart the thermostat by switching the electrical breaker off and back on. This can help reset any temporary glitches.
Restart the gateway/router
: Restart your Wi-Fi gateway/router to refresh the connection. Sometimes, router issues can cause connectivity problems.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi
: In the thermostat settings, try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network. Enter the correct Wi-Fi password if prompted.
Check network settings
: Ensure that the Wi-Fi network is set to the thermostat’s preferred settings.
Move closer to Wi-Fi
: If the thermostat is far from the router, you may need to relocate or reposition the router, to improve Wi-Fi signal strength.
Contact manufacturer support
: If the issue persists, reach out to the thermostat manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They may provide specific troubleshooting steps or recommend a replacement if the thermostat is faulty.
My smart thermostat won’t connect to my home’s Wi-Fi network.
First, verify you are using the correct Wi-Fi password.
Smart thermostat work best with the following network configurations:
DHCP enabled
No hidden SSIDs or network names
2.4GHz or 5GHz network
If you have a dual-band network where 2.4GHz and 5GHz are combined:
Enter the admin settings on your modem/router using your browser (the admin settings and password are usually on the side of the modem/router).
Go to
Wireless settings
. Then select
SmartSteering
and disable it. This splits the network into 2.4GHz and 5GHz separately.
Go back to the basic settings to set a name and password for each frequency.
If the connection still fails, reset your Wi-Fi router to clear old data and retry the connection.
Beware
: This could disconnect all other paired Wi-Fi devices in your home.
I get an "Incorrect Password – Please re-enter the password and try again" error message on my smart thermostat
The thermostat failed to connect to the local Wi-Fi network due to an incorrect password. Verify you have the correct password. You can verify your password by “forgetting” the Wi-Fi connection on your mobile device, then reconnecting and re-entering your password.
Why is my smart thermostat’s Wi-Fi not working?
We recommend following the instructions provided on the manufacturer support site for detailed troubleshooting steps.
How can I be sure my thermostat is running the most up-to-date firmware?
When your thermostat is connected to Wi-Fi, it will automatically receive firmware updates. These updates may include new features and security upgrades. Keep your thermostat connected to Wi-Fi to ensure it stays up-to-date.
