TELUS Wireless Ambassador Retiree (TWAR) Program

Overview
We are pleased to announce that as of November 13, 2020, our TELUS Wireless Ambassador Retiree (TWAR) program has been updated to give retirees access to more data, the same competitive offers TELUS customers receive, and to ensure consistency across all of our TELUS Wireless Ambassador program offerings.
Any retiree who joined the TWAR program prior to November 13, 2020 will still have access to their legacy $30 and $40 plans. Similarly, any Community Ambassador who joined the program prior to November 13, 2020 will still have access to their legacy plan. However, these plans will no longer be available for rate plan changes or new activations, and the current $300 device discount will no longer be available. This means that retirees can remain on the legacy plans, but if they choose to do so, they will no longer be eligible for device upgrades through financing effective November 13, 2020. Retirees who wish to remain on their legacy plan can do outright by visiting a TELUS retail location or online at telus.com.

Program eligibility and details
Updates to the TWA Retiree program include:
- Eligibility opened up to 15 years or more of consecutive service (for those that have retired November 13 2020 or after)
- Those that have retired before November 13, 2020 must have had 20 years or more of consecutive service to be eligible for the TWAR discount
- 40% off in-market non-promo Unlimited 10GB+ rate plans
- Access to Easy Payment options, Easy Roam, Canada-US plans, in-market device discounts, CPO devices and more
- Offer redemption online or at any TELUS-branded store
Process
New eligible retirees not currently enrolled in TWA and not yet a TELUS customer:
- Email the Wireless Ambassador team at wirelessretirees@telus.com to receive a validation code.
- Access your offer here, and input your validation code
- You will see a confirmation page with a promo code and validation code that you can use to redeem online or in-store at any TELUS branded Corporate or Dealer location
Please note: If you’d like to redeem in store, promo and validation codes should be saved and brought to a TELUS branded store.
New eligible retirees not currently enrolled in TWA and already a TELUS customer:
- Email the Wireless Ambassador team at wirelessretirees@telus.com to determine if you are eligible for the retiree discount. If so, the Wireless Ambassador team will ensure you are on the correct rate plan and will add the discount to your account.
- You do not need to access the above link
- You can upgrade your device through your My TELUS account
New eligible retirees enrolled in TWA:
- The Wireless Ambassador team will email you advising you that you are eligible for the TELUS Wireless Ambassador Retiree program and will add the discount for you
- You do not need to access the above link
- You can upgrade your device through your My TELUS account
Existing retirees who are enrolled in TWAR and who want to enroll in the new program:
- Email the Wireless Ambassador team at wirelessretirees@telus.com and indicate that you would like to switch from your existing TWAR plan to a non-promo in-market plan and get 40% off the rate plan. Please include your mobile number and your full name
- See available plans
- Once you’re enrolled in the new program, you can upgrade your device through your My TELUS account
Note: You cannot switch back to your existing price plan once you switch to the new program.
Existing Community Ambassadors who want access to the new CA program:
- Email the Wireless Ambassador team at wirelessretirees@telus.com to switch from your existing plan to a non-promo in-market plan and get 40% off the rate plan. Please include your mobile number and your full name
- See available plans
- Once you’re enrolled in the new program, you can upgrade your device through your My TELUS account
Note: You cannot switch back to your existing price plan once you switch to the new program.
Existing retirees (including Community Ambassadors retirees) who want a new device:
- Email the Wireless Ambassador team at wirelessretirees@telus.com to switch from your existing plan to a non-promo in-market plan, get your discount and then go into store or log in to My TELUS to upgrade your device
Note: Retirees and CAs cannot get a new device on financing and stay on their legacy TWAR/CA plans. You must buy the device outright via telus.com or in store.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
1. Why is TELUS making these changes?
As a response to retiree feedback and to address the need for more data, we are updating the current TELUS Wireless Ambassador program for Retirees (TWAR) as of November 13, 2020 to bring you the latest and greatest offers available to TELUS customers. This change provides our Community Ambassadors and Retirees with access to new offerings such as unlimited data plans, easy payment opportunities for new devices and Canada-US options to best suit your needs.
2. What are the details of the new program?
As of November 13, 2020, all new and existing members of our TELUS Wireless Ambassadors Retirees (TWAR) program can update their plan to the listed in-market, non-promotional offer or in store and receive 40 percent off their monthly rate plan.
3. When does the new program become available?
The opportunity to modify your current plan to any in-market, non-promotional plan will be available as of November 13, 2020 at 12am ET.
4. How do I switch to the new program?
If you would like to switch to any in-market, non-promotional plan and receive a 40 percent discount off your monthly rate plan, please email the Wireless Ambassadors team at wirelessretirees@telus.com and indicate that you would like to switch from your existing TELUS Wireless Ambassador plan for Retirees (TWAR).

5. What if I want to stay on my existing plan?
All current participants of the TELUS Wireless Ambassadors for Retirees (TWAR) program that wish to stay on their existing $30 and $40/1 GB plans can do so but the plans will not be available for sale to new retirees or for rate plan changes. If you wish to have no changes made to your current price plan, there is no further action required from you at this time, and you will continue to enjoy your current rate of $30 or $40.
6. What if I switch to the new program, but want to go back to my original plan?
Once you’ve migrated to our new TELUS Wireless Ambassadors for Retirees (TWAR) program, you are no longer eligible to switch back to your original price plan.
7. What happens to my current $300 device discount offer on hardware upgrades?
As of November 12, 2020 at 11:59pm ET, the option to purchase a device via the retiree web store and receive a $300 device bill credit will no longer be available. Removing the discount allows you to take advantage of the device discounts and Easy Payment financing options that the program didn’t give you access to prior to November 13, 2020.
8. I redeemed my $300 discount last year. Do I need to wait a full 24 months to be eligible to purchase a new device?
You do not need to wait to purchase a new device. If you are already enrolled in the new retiree program, you can immediately upgrade your device by going in store or logging in to My TELUS.
If you are still on the legacy retiree program, as of November 13, 2020 at 12am ET, you will have to email the Wireless Ambassador team at wirelessretirees@telus.com to switch from your existing plan to any in-market non-promotional plan.
After you’ve updated your plan, you will be eligible to go in store, visit telus.com, or log in to your My TELUS app to upgrade your device and take advantage of our Easy Payment or Certified Pre-Owned upgrade options.
9. What if I want to purchase a new device after November 13, 2020?
If you would like to purchase a new device as of November 13, 2020 at 12am ET, please email the Wireless Ambassadors team at wirelessretirees@telus.com to switch from your existing plan to any in-market non-promotional plan.
After you’ve updated your plan, you will be eligible to go in store, visit telus.com, or log in to your My TELUS app to upgrade your device and take advantage of our Easy Payment or Certified Pre-Owned upgrade options.
10. Can I purchase a new device and stay on my legacy plan?
If you would like to remain on your legacy TELUS Wireless Ambassadors for Retirees (TWAR) program, you will no longer be eligible for device upgrades through financing as of November 13, 2020. You can still purchase a new device outright by going in store or visiting telus.com.
