Setting up TELUS email for the first time
Step-by-step instructions to set up TELUS email on web browser, smartphone or tablet for first-time users.
This article is for new users of TELUS email. If you have been an existing TELUS email customer and have recently been migrated to Google, visit telus.com/SetUp.
Accessing your email on a web browser
You can access your TELUS email by visiting email.telus.net. This link will redirect you to Gmail.com and the “@telus.net” part of your email address will be pre-populated in the username field. Bookmark this page or add it to your favorites for future use.
You can access your calendar and contacts by visiting calendar.google.com and contacts.google.com.

Mobile devices: Gmail app (recommended)
You can download the Gmail app for the best email experience on your smartphone or tablet. Here are the instructions you need to follow:
- Download the app from the App Store (Apple devices only)
- Open the Gmail app from your home screen
- Select Add account
Note: If you were already using the Gmail app to access a different account, you can add your new TELUS email account by tapping your profile picture on the top-right corner, and choosing Add/Use another account. - Allow access to Google by selecting Google and then Continue
- Enter your TELUS email address and select Next
- Enter your password and select Next. If you forgot your TELUS email password, you can reset it online by visiting telus.com/reset and following the instructions
- Your setup is now complete
Mobile devices: Apple Mail app
You can access your TELUS email on the Mail application included with your iPhone or iPad.
- Open the Settings app from your home screen
- Select Mail
- Tap Accounts
- Tap Add account
- Allow access to Google by selecting Google and then Continue
- Enter your TELUS email address and select Next
- Enter your password and select Next. If you forgot your TELUS email password, you can reset it online by visiting telus.com/reset and following the instructions
- Select Save
- Your setup is now complete
Laptop or desktop: Using other email programs
We recommend that you access your email on a web browser, using the instructions in the section, Accessing your email on a web browser, above.
If you want to use an alternative email program to access your TELUS email, follow the instructions below. If you require assistance or need additional support, please contact the provider of your alternative application:
Step 1: Allow your devices to access your email account
- Open your email account in a browser by visiting email.telus.net
- Go to the Google apps menu (the 9-dot menu) and select Account
- Select Security on the left-hand side
- Scroll down to “Less secure app access” and select Turn on access
- Toggle “Allow less secure apps switch” to On
Step 2: Enable IMAP or POP access
- Open your email account in a browser by visiting email.telus.net
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select See all settings
- From the top menu, select Forwarding and POP/IMAP
- In that menu under POP access, select Enable POP
- Select Save changes
