How to create a secure home Wi-Fi network with a Siemens modem

To set up a secure Wi-Fi network and wirelessly connect to the Internet, complete these steps while using a wired Internet connection. Log in to your Siemens Gigaset wireless gateway and Launch your Web browser.

  1. From the upper left corner of your browser, select
    File.
    Note:
    If your browser taskbar is not displayed, press
    Alt
    on your keyboard

  2. Click
    Open

  3. Type 192.168.1.254 press
    Enter
    . The Home screen is displayed

  4. From the top right corner, click
    Login

  5. Type the following information:

    • Please choose your role: admin

    • Please enter your password: telus

    Note
    : telus is the default password if you have personalized your settings you will need to enter the password you created

  6. Select
    OK.
    You're now logged in to your wireless gateway.

  7. Select
    Advanced Settings

  8. From the left pane, select
    Wireless Network
    . The Wireless Setup Configuration screen is displayed.

  9. Enter these settings as follows:

    • Wireless Interface: Enable

    • SSID: Clear the text-box then type any name that will allow you to identify your network

    • Channel: 1 or 11 are recommended

    • Clear the
      Enable Auto Scan on Power ON
      check box

    • Enable SSID Broadcast: Enable

    • Power: Highest

  10. When you're finished, select
    Apply

  11. From the left pane, select
    Encryption & Authentication

  12. From the
    Security Mode
    menu, select WPA-PSK AES for enhanced security

  13. Select
    Apply

  14. From the left pane, select
    WPA

  15. Clear the
    Key
    text-box then type your desired Wi-Fi network password.
    Note:
    Your password must be between 8-63 characters and consist of letters, numbers or a combination of both

  16. When you're finished, select
    Apply

  17. From the top right corner, select
    Logout
