How to use Scenes

Manage your Scenes to execute multiple commands on multiple devices

How do I create or edit a Scene?

Scenes can be configured from both the TELUS SmartHome app and web portal.

Through the TELUS SmartHome app
:

  1. Log in to the TELUS SmartHome app

  2. In Scenes, tap
    >

    Scenes-1
  3. To edit an existing scene, tap
    >
    on the scene. Tap
    Edit
    , then edit the scene as desired

  4. To create a new scene, tap
    +

    add-scene
  5. In the Scene Name field, enter the desired name

  6. Tap the icon symbol to change the icon image and colour to represent the Scene

  7. In Devices, tap
    Add +
    to select the device the scene will control

  8. Depending on your system, there are a number of actions available for configuration:

  • In Security System, tap to select the desired arming status. The security system can be placed into Disarmed, Armed (Stay) or Arm (Away) status

  • In Lock, tap to select the desired lock status. Smart Door Locks can be locked or unlocked

  • In Garage, tap to select the desired garage door status. Smart Garage Door Openers can be opened or closed

  • In Thermostat, tap the desired thermostat status. Smart Thermostats can be set to a custom temperature, mode, schedule, fan status and/or specific temperature sensors

  • In Lights, tap the desired light status. Smart Light Bulbs or Smart Plug - Dimmer devices can be set to On, Off or a specified brightness level

  1. Once all the actions are set, tap
    Save

Through the web portal
:

  1. Log in to the
    web portal

  2. Click
    Automation

  3. Click
    Scenes

  4. To edit an existing scene, click the pencil icon next to the name of the scene

  5. To create a new scene, click
    New Scene

  6. In the Scene Name field, enter the desired name for the scene

  7. Tap the icon symbol to change the icon image and colour to represent the scene

  8. Depending on the equipment enrolled in the user's system, there are the following types of actions:

  • In Security System, tap to select the desired arming status. The security system can be placed into Disarmed, Armed (Stay) or Arm (Away) status

  • In Lock, tap to select the desired lock status. Smart Door Locks can be locked or unlocked

  • In Garage, tap to select the desired garage door status. Smart Garage Door Openers can be opened or closed

  • In Thermostat, tap the desired thermostat status. Smart Thermostats can be set to a custom temperature, mode, schedule, fan status and/or specific temperature sensors

  • In Lights, tap the desired light status. Smart Light Bulbs or Smart Plug - Dimmer devices can be set to On, Off or a specified brightness level

  1. Click
    Save

How do I rearrange the order of my Scenes?

Through the web portal
:

  1. Log in to the
    web portal

  2. Select
    Automation

  3. Select
    Scenes

  4. Select
    Reorder

  5. Click and drag the
    =
    icon to the right of the scene to rearrange

  6. Once all desired changes are made, click
    Save

Through the TELUS SmartHome app
:

  1. Log in to the TELUS SmartHome app

  2. In Scenes, tap
    >

  3. Tap the icon on the top right of the screen

  4. Drag the scene to rearrange

  5. Once all desired changes are made, click
    Done

How do I delete a Scene?

Through the web portal
:

  1. Log in to the
    web portal

  2. Select
    Automation

  3. Select
    Scenes

  4. Click the garbage icon for the scene to be deleted

  5. Click
    Delete Scene
    to confirm

Through the TELUS SmartHome app
:

  1. Log in to the TELUS SmartHome app

  2. Tap the
    Menu
    icon (three lines) on the top left hand corner of the screen

  3. Select
    Scenes

  4. Select the custom scene to delete

  5. Click
    Edit

  6. Go to the bottom of the Edit Scene page, and click
    Delete Scene

  7. Click
    Delete
    to confirm

Troubleshooting your Scenes

If your scene is not working as expected, verify the following:

  • Your Scene is configured with the correct desired settings

  • Your device is functioning properly
