Call Control is a Home Phone feature that helps limit the amount of unwanted calls you receive. Eligible TELUS Home Phone customers can opt in to receive Call Control for free, or upgrade to the Premium version for $3.00/month.
How Call Control works
When Call Control is on, callers will hear a recording asking them to enter a number on their keypad. This challenge prevents robocalls from getting through, and is simple enough for real-life callers to pass. You can put phone numbers on your Accepted callers list to avoid having them pass the challenge when they try to reach you. We highly recommend adding telephone numbers of frequent or important callers (e.g. family members, school office, doctor’s office, etc.) into the Accepted callers list. If you don’t want to receive calls from certain numbers, you can put them on your Blocked callers list.
Turning Call Control on
- Log in to My Account
- Find the Call Control feature under Home Phone
Note: If you cannot find Call Control in your My Account profile, you may not have the feature on your account and can chat with an agent to have it set up.
Customize Call Control
You can customize your preferences in My Account. These customizations include:
- Adding numbers to your Accepted callers list, which ensures these callers always get through to you
- Adding numbers to your Blocked callers list, which ensures these callers never get through to you
- Viewing your last few calls and their specifics in the Call log, and allowing you to move those numbers directly to your Accepted callers or Blocked callers lists, respectively

Collect Calls to Call Control
Collect and third-party billed calls start with an automated call to your home phone to ask if you will accept the charges. As Call Control is a Home Phone feature that helps limit the number of auto-dialled calls you receive, these collect/third-party billed calls will now be blocked as they are automated calls. If you are expecting to receive a collect/third-party billed call, please ensure the feature is not active at the time.
Text to Landline
Select Wireless Operators in Canada offer SMS/Text to Landline service. Their SMS messages are delivered as an automated voice call to your home phone line. With Call Control, this call will be blocked. Please do not turn Call Control on should you want to be receiving SMS/Text to Landline messages.
