Install and connect your Smart Energy thermostat with the SmartHome+ app

Prior to ordering a smart thermostat, you should ensure that your heating and cooling system meets compatibility requirements.

Two particular items to pay attention to during your compatibility check are:

Your smart thermostat requires a minimum of 2.5 Mbps upload speed to operate.

On your smartphone, open your browser and go to

telus.com/SpeedTest

(Safari on Apple iPhone devices or Google Chrome on Android phones) to determine the internet speed in the area you’d like your thermostat installed.

If you aren’t getting a Wi-Fi signal or your Wi-Fi signal is weak, please contact your internet service provider. You might need to upgrade your plan to get more upload bandwidth or to improve your home's Wi-Fi coverage.

There are three different levels of Wi-Fi signal strength: poor (red), medium (yellow) and maximum (green).

Download the TELUS SmartHome+ app (below) and then log in with your My TELUS credentials.

Before accessing the smart thermostat on your SmartHome+ app, the device must be wired and functional.

TELUS recommends that you use a certified electrician if your existing thermostat setup is high-voltage or if you do not have a c-wire present at your thermostat.

To finalize adding your thermostat, log in to the SmartHome+ app with your manufacturer app login details.

If your device(s) doesn’t appear immediately, try pulling down your device list screen to trigger a refresh. Your thermostat should appear momentarily.

A third-party integration in the SmartHome+ mobile app refers to the capability of connecting and controlling devices from external providers that have partnered with TELUS. These integrations allow users to expand the functionality of their smart home ecosystem by incorporating devices or services from other manufacturers or developers.

"Cloud-to-cloud" (C2C) connectivity is essential for enabling seamless communication between the SmartHome+ app and the external devices provided by third-party manufacturers. The integration becomes possible when the SmartHome+ app welcomes the data exchange between both apps, only once you’ve provided the username and password credentials during the designated screen of Device add SmartHome+ app experience.
