Do i need a smartphone and/or an app?

Yes, the service works alongside your smartphone, using the InvisaWear app. You’ll need Android 9.0+ or iOS 11.0+ and connection to a cellular network or Wi-Fi to send an alert.

The devices are bluetooth-enabled. So your phone needs to be nearby – within bluetooth range (10m) – but not necessarily on your person.

You can download the app from the App Store (Apple iOS) or Google Play (Android). You then pair your SmartWear device(s) with your phone through the app.

Do I need to sign up for a plan?

How does the service work in an emergency?

There are two different modes: 911 Dispatch and Basic. Here’s how they work:

911 Dispatch Mode

Double click on the device if you need help and can’t call 911 directly
Our trained operators will try to contact you either by phone or text (whichever you’ve set in your preferences). If you confirm that you need help, or if they can’t reach you, they’ll attempt to dispatch emergency services to your location
We'll send your emergency contacts (up to 5) an alert with your location

How do I switch between modes?

What if I trigger an alarm accidentally?

Don’t worry. If you’ve accidentally triggered an alarm in 911 Dispatch mode, you can easily cancel it in the app by entering your PIN within 15 seconds.

In 911 Dispatch mode, we’ll still contact you to confirm the emergency. If you haven’t had a chance to cancel your alarm, simply tell our agent that you don’t need help.

If you are unable to cancel the alarm and an emergency dispatch occurs for a false alarm, a fee from your municipality may apply (fire, ambulance, police services).

What’s the connection between InvisaWear and TELUS?

Does the service work internationally?

The service works in part internationally. If you are outside of Canada, you’ll be able to send text message alerts to your emergency contacts, informing them that you are in an emergency situation.

9-1-1 features and live response service are only available in Canada

Please note:

Your phone must be connected to cellular data in order for you to send out alerts
International roaming charges may apply under your wireless service plan for InvisaWear’s use of calls, text messaging and data while you are outside of Canada
When you leave and/or return back to Canada, simply relaunch the app into the foreground to switch in and/or out of international mode automatically

Plan requires a wearable device. Minimum system requirements apply. The Service will require connectivity between a mobile phone and the network facilities of your telecommunications service provider. In order to use the personal security service, you must have a cellular device that is connected to a telecommunications service provider, the personal security app must be running on a compatible cellular device with an eligible operating system, you must provide the personal security app with access to your location, and personal security app notifications must be enabled. Phones with an Android operating system must have battery optimization turned off for the service and mobile app to function. In order to use a personal security device to access the personal security services, you must have the personal security device with you, the personal security device must have sufficient battery life, bluetooth must be enabled on your cellular device at time of use, the device must be paired with your cellular device using bluetooth, and the personal security device must be in close proximity (within 10m) to the paired cellular device when a request for service is sent. When you request assistance, your location will be shared with agents at a TELUS Central Monitoring Station. The assigned agent will attempt to contact you and verify the incident. If the agent cannot reach you and / or the incident is verified, the agent will contact emergency services on your behalf and request a dispatch and an alert will be sent to your emergency contacts. Location data will be updated and stored for 30 minutes. Location data will be shared with emergency contacts and emergency services. Other profile information may be shared with emergency services to facilitate their response. If you use a personal security device, you must test the device battery and connection once a month, and replace the device before the battery loses power. As a courtesy, personal security users may be notified in the personal security app when the battery power is low, and you must act quickly to replace the device if you receive such notification.
Offer includes a $30 equipment credit and one-month free subscription. Offer available to new TELUS SmartWear Security customers who have not had TELUS SmartWear Security in the past 90 days. Regular monthly rate of $15 will apply from 2nd month. If the customer cancels the service within the first 30 days the equipment must be returned to TELUS. Equipment can be financed on a one-year term. Remaining device balance due upon service cancellation within one year. Offers and regular pricing subject to change without notice.

Customers with an active TELUS or Koodo Mobility post-paid account or an active eligible home service will receive a discount of $3/month. Discounts are applied on the SWS plan and TELUS reserves the right to remove mobility or home solutions discounts if the customer no longer meets eligibility requirements.
