As an alternative to sharing your Apple ID directly with your child, creating an account for them is a great way to easily set parental controls and utilize Family Sharing Settings.

Current Step: 1 - From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  1. 1 - From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. 2 - Tap your Apple ID profile.
  3. 3 - Tap Family Sharing.
  4. 4 - Tap the Add member icon.
  5. 5 - Tap Create Child Account.
  6. 6 - Enter your child's information and tap Verify You're an Adult.
  7. 7 - Tap Credit/Debit Card and add your payment information.
    • Note: This information is required as consent to create the child account.
  8. 8 - Tap Agree.
  9. 9 - Enter an email address for your child and tap Next.
  10. 10 - Enter the verification code sent to your email address.
  11. 11 - Enter a password for your child's account and tap Next.
  12. 12 - Tap Use on your phone number.
    • Note: Verification codes for your family member's account will be sent to this phone number. If you would like to use a different phone number, tap Use a Different Number and follow the prompts.
  13. 13 - Tap Agree.
  14. 14 - Tap Agree again.
  15. 15 - Tap Set up manually.
    • Note: Ask To Buy and Location Sharing can be enabled later in your Family Sharing Settings.
  16. 16 - Tap Not Now.
  17. 17 - Tap Done.
  18. 18 - You've completed the steps!
