Current Step: 1 - To force your device to shut off, simultaneously press and hold the Power/Side and Volume down buttons until the screen goes completely dark (approximately 15 seconds), then release.
If you're having problems with your device (e.g., an app is frozen, the screen isn't responding, etc.), the first step in troubleshooting is to turn your phone off and on again (also known as a soft restart). If a soft restart isn't possible, a forced restart may be necessary.
  1. 1 - To force your device to shut off, simultaneously press and hold the Power/Side and Volume down buttons until the screen goes completely dark (approximately 15 seconds), then release.
    • Note: It may take up to 30 seconds for the device to completely shut down.
  2. 2 - Once your device is completely off, press and hold the Power/Side button to turn your device back on.
  3. 3 - You've completed the steps!
