These instructions will help you transfer your Shaw emails to TELUS email

These instructions will help you transfer your Shaw emails to TELUS email. Make sure that your Shaw email is active before you begin. If your Shaw email has been deactivated, please contact Shaw to reactivate it before following these steps.

Steps for importing messages from shaw.ca


  1. Ensure that you have access for POP active on your Shaw account
  2. Log in to TELUS email at mail.google.com/a/telus.net
  3. In the top right, select the gear icon, then Settings
  4. Select the Account and import tab
  5. In the second section, select Import mail and contacts
  6. Follow the steps on the screen
    a. Enter your shaw.ca email address, and select Continue
    b. When asked, enter your password for your shaw.ca account
    c. Confirm your username and server details, and select Continue
    i. Shaw email without @shaw.ca
    ii. Server: pop.shaw.ca, port: 995
    d. For import options, choose the following:
    i. Import mail, checked
    ii. Add label to all imported mail. This will be pre-filled with your shaw.ca address
    iii. Select Start import
    e. Your messages will be imported. Select OK
  7. You can see your messages as they are imported in your inbox

Steps to help others learn about your TELUS email


You can set up the following auto-reply message for people who email you on your old address:

  1. Access your shaw.ca email address on webmail.shaw.ca
  2. Log in using your email and password
  3. Go to the Preferences tab and select Out of office
  4. Select Send auto-reply message
  5. Enter a message into the auto-reply message text box:
    a. Suggestion: “Thank you for your message. I have recently changed my email address to <email address>@telus.net. Please update your contact information for me. I have received your email at my new address. There is no need to resend it.”
  6. Select Save

You can also set up a signature on your new TELUS email account to remind people of your new address:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Under General, scroll to Signature
  3. Select Create new, and enter a name for your signature
  1. Enter your signature as you would like it to appear, as well as a sentence about your email address changing to TELUS email
    a. Suggestion: “I have recently changed my email address to <email address>@telus.net. Please update your contact information for me.”
    b. You can personalize your signature by formatting your message, changing the text style and adding images
  2. Use the settings, select your signature For email use and On reply/forward use
  3. Make sure you save your signature at the bottom of the page
