Set up TELUS email on your computer using Outlook 2007
Instructions on setting up TELUS email on your computer through Outlook 2007.
Step 1: In the Gmail web interface
- First select Google apps in the top-right corner (the 9-dot menu), and then select Account
- Select Security on the left-hand side
- Scroll down to “Less secure app access” and select Turn on access
- Toggle “Allow less secure apps switch” to On
Step 2: In Outlook 2007
Before you begin, download and install MS Outlook 2007 on your computer if you have not done so already. To learn more, visit the Microsoft website.
- From your desktop, select Start
- From the Start menu, select Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
- From the top taskbar , select Tools
- Select Account settings
- From the email tab, select New
- Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP
- Select Next. The Auto account setup is displayed
- Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box
- Select Next
- Select Internet email
- Select Next. The Internet email settings screen is displayed
- Type the following information:
- Your name: The name that will be displayed to recipients of emails you send
- Email address: Your telus.net email address
- Account type: Select IMAP
- Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
- Account name, user name or email address: Your full email address
- Password: Your password
- Select the Remember password check box
- Select Require logon using Secure Password Authentication checkbox
- Select More settings to choose “Outgoing server” tab
a. Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox - Select Advance tab
a. Incoming Server (IMAP): Port 993
b. Use the following type of encryption connection: SSL
c. Outgoing Server SMTP: Port 465
d. Use the following type of encryption connection: SSL - Select OK
- Select Test account settings
- If you have received status “Completed”, then press Close
- Select Finish
Your TELUS email account is set up for use with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.

You can fix this issue by following these steps:
- Right-click on the top bar below the search field. Select View settings
- Select Columns
- Select Received from the right-side column and click on <- Remove
- Select Sent from the left-side column and click Add ->
