Posted March 1, 2023 - Changes to OWN, Love Nature, Wild TV and Cooking Channels on VOD

Starting April 1, 2023, ‌video on demand (VOD) content for OWN, Love Nature, Wild TV and Cooking Channel will no longer be offered on Optik TV. 

The existing VOD content will be taken down and no new VOD content will be uploaded moving forward. Current subscribers to these channels will continue to be able to watch linear content through the Optik TV set-top box as well as through the TELUS TV+ app.

Posted February 28, 2023 - Upcoming changes to Teletoon and Cartoon Network

Due to recent channel provider changes, Teletoon West will be rebranding to Cartoon Network West, and Teletoon East will be rebranding to Cartoon Network East and Cartoon Network will be rebranding to Boomerang.

All changes will be effective starting March 27, 2023. If you’d like to make any changes to your TV packaging, you can do so any time by signing into your My TELUS account

Due to provider changes, ‌MLS broadcasting rights on TSN have changed.

The 2023 MLS season starting February 25, 2023 will be available with Apple TV+ through their exclusive MLS Season Pass. If you have TSN only, select MLS games will be available to watch throughout the season.

Starting March 2023, the regular monthly rate for some a la carte Optik TV® theme packages will increase between $1 and $8.

You can avoid the rate changes to a la carte theme packs by adding an Optik TV combo. Theme packs that are included inside an Optik TV combo are not subject to the theme pack rate increase and selecting a combo may provide you with additional content and greater value than your current selection. You can do this by logging into My TELUS and selecting Services
 in the Home Services
 section and select Change your Package
 to add a combo to your account.

Starting January 31, 2023, Openfit will no longer be offered by TELUS. If you have Openfit included as a theme pack within your TV bundle, it will be replaced with an alternative theme pack after January 31. If you’d like to swap out Openfit with another theme pack, you can do so anytime by signing into your My TELUS account
. 

If you have Openfit outside of your TV bundle, the channel will be removed from your account on January 31, and you will no longer be billed for it. No action is required on your part. Please note
: Since you are billed one month in advance, you will see a partial credit for Openfit on your February bill. The credit amount will depend on your bill cycle date. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Posted November 30, 2021 - Changes to Fairchild TV and GMA Pinoy

Starting from February 1st, 2022, the a la carte price for Fairchild TV Pack (Fairchild East & West) and GMA Pinoy will change from $10 to $12 for each channel. The change in price is due to increasing costs to provide these channels.

Customers with a “Theme Packs and Premium” combo where Fairchild TV or GMA Pinoy is their selected premium will not see a change in price to Fairchild TV or GMA Pinoy so long as they keep their combo. For customers with either Fairchild TV or GMA Pinoy as their $10 add-on, there will be no change in price.

For customers on our legacy packaging, including our “You Pick” combo packaging, consider upgrading your combo to one of our “Theme Packs and Premium” combos to avoid this price increase. Combo changes can be done at any time via My TELUS (or via telus.com/OptikTVPackage

Due to a channel provider change, as of October 28, 2021, Crave On Demand will no longer be available for purchase as part of Optik TV. 
As your Optik TV subscription already includes Crave On Demand, your package will remain unchanged. There will be no impact to your monthly bill. No further action is required from you.

Due to recent channel provider changes, as of October 28, 2021 Crave + Movies +HBO has rebranded as Crave. There will be no content changes and no impact to the associated charge on your account.

Posted July 1, 2021 - Changes to the Netflix Premium Plan (updated August 12, 2021)

Starting November 1, 2021, a $4 surcharge will apply for Netflix Premium customers with a month-to-month Optik TV subscription. Netflix Standard, launching in late September 2021, will be available at no additional charge as part of select Optik TV packages.

To continue enjoying a Netflix Premium subscription at the current rate, month-to-month customers can sign up for a new Optik TV term and have their Optik TV and Netflix subscription price-protected for 24 months. They can also downgrade into Netflix Standard via Manage your channels
 at telus.com/MyTelus
 starting in late September 2021. Customers can freely switch between Netflix Standard and Netflix Premium through My TELUS at any time.

Customers currently on a term agreement with Netflix Premium will see the $4 surcharge apply at the end of their term.

Customers signing up for Netflix Premium for the first time before late September 2021 will receive the $4 surcharge, and are not eligible for price protection.

Posted March 22, 2021 - Changes to Family Jr, BBC First, Rev TV and theme pack name changes

As of April 29, 2021, select channels will be moved between theme packs. Customers currently subscribed to the former theme pack, and are not subscribed to the theme pack where the channel will be moved to, will lose access to these channels. Customers who lose access to these channels may resubscribe by managing their channels via My TELUS
.

*This was updated June 29, 2021. Customers with BBC First in Nature and Culture (Nature & Civilization) will not lose access to the channel. Going forward, BBC First will be located in the Variety theme pack.

In addition, on April 29, 2021, some theme packs will be renamed. There will be no impact to customers as a result of these name changes.

Posted February 17, 2021 - EWTN (Eternal World Television Network) rate change

On November 1, 2020, the cost of one of your individual channels, EWTN (Eternal World Television Network) on channel 874 increased to $5/month. Unfortunately, due to a human error, you were not notified of this change. We apologize for this oversight and to thank you for your understanding, we will be issuing a one-time $20 credit on your next bill to cover the cost of the past 4 months of this change, plus February and March of 2021.

As of April 1, 2021, the updated rate for EWTN will become permanent. The credit you are receiving refunds the difference between the old rate and the new rate between November 2020 until April 1, 2021.

In order to upgrade the Optik TV browser experience from Flash to HTML5 as well as resolve some existing defects with the Optik TV app, we will be conducting some scheduled maintenance from November 9, 2020 to November 20, 2020. During this time, you may notice some minor issues with your Optik TV App On Demand experience and app settings, and you may be asked to log back in using your My TELUS credentials.

On Demand

If you purchase an On Demand video title, you may notice that it is not immediately available on your other Optik TV App devices. There may be up to a 1 hour delay before your On Demand title appears in the Purchases
 tab of your Optik TV App across all connected devices. 

If you are trying to access On Demand video titles for recently aired TV shows on networks that you subscribe to, you may notice a 1-2 day delay after airing before the titles are available to you on all of your devices. Please note that you will still be able to access these titles from 3rd party applications such as CTV Go, Global and Crave. 

If you pause your On Demand programming and attempt to resume later or on a different device, you may notice that you are not able to pick up where you left off. Selecting On Demand programming
 will allow you to fast forward. 

If you add a TV show or series to your favourites, this selection may be reset and you may need to re-add it after the maintenance period.

App settings

If you make changes to your language, closed captioning, described video or mobile network streaming settings, these may need to be reset after the scheduled maintenance period.

Posted October 14, 2020 - Game Show Network channel update

As of November 17, 2020, the Game Show Network channel will be moving from the Medley theme pack to the Good Times theme pack. The initiative is taken to improve the content relevancy of the channels within each theme pack and bring more value to our customers. 

As a result, Optik TV subscribers of the Medley theme pack, who also don’t subscribe to Good Times theme pack or don’t have Game Show Network added as a-la-carte channel, will not be able to view the channel, unless they add the Good Times theme pack or the Game Show Network channel a-la-carte.

Good Times theme pack can be added as part of your Optik TV combo or as an a-la-carte for an additional $8/month. Alternatively, Game Show Network channel can be added as an a-la-carte channel.

$10 ongoing discount rate change

As of November 1, 2020, if you are currently in a Month-to-Month TV service agreement with the $10 Promotional Discount or $10 Optik TV Combo Discount, the value of these discounts will decrease by $5, where the remaining $5 discount will expire in 12 months.

Month-to-Month customers may enter into a service agreement to receive a $10 discount for 24 months, replacing the $5 12-month expiring discount. Please call 1-888-811-2323 to add a new service agreement to your existing TV plan, or alternatively you can submit a request by *logging into your My TELUS account
. 

This offer is valid until January 31, 2021 and we will credit any increase applied on your bill if you add a new term by January 31, 2021.

If you are currently in a 24-month service agreement, with the $10 Promotional Discount or $10 Optik TV Combo Discount, at the end of your service agreement the $10 discount will expire. There will be no change to the discount value until that time.

Starting September 12, 2020, the monthly rental rate for the 4K Wireless Digital Box will increase from $7 to $10. If you are receiving your Digital Box as a free rental, you will continue to receive it for free. 

Due to a technical billing error, some customers may currently have a $5/month rate for the 4K Wireless Digital Box. This will be corrected on September 12, 2020 to the $10/month rental rate. 

There will be no changes to the monthly rental rate for the 4K PVR, HD PVR or HD Wired and Wireless Digital Boxes.

China Yellow River Channel turndown

As of June 30, 2020, China Yellow River Channel will no longer be available on Optik TV. Customers who have subscribed to the channel will have their accounts updated to reflect the turndown of the channel.

Stingray rebranding update

Due to a recent channel provider change, Stingray Ambiance will be rebranding to Stingray Naturescape effective June 1, 2020. The channel name included in our packages and content has changed, but the channel number will remain the same.

Video on Demand bill processing error

Due to a system error, customers on Optik TV may not have been properly charged for Video On Demand rentals on their Optik TV account. We have fixed the issue and any new rentals after April 1, 2020 will appear as ‘Video on demand adj.’ on the bill.

Due to loss of content rights, TSN and Sportsnet will not be broadcasting the 2019–20 English Premier League (starting August 9, 2019). To watch EPL, customers can sign up to DAZN at DAZN.com
 for $20 a month, or $150 a year, to stream the content via mobile devices and enjoy their first month for free.

Despite this loss of content, all efforts are being made to bring back the EPL to Optik during the 2019-20 season. Stay tuned for further updates.

Due to recent channel provider changes, as of September 7, 2017, NFL Sunday Ticket Channels: 1501-1516 (HD), 1601-1616 (SD) and Red Zone (channels 927 HD and 9927 SD) will no longer be available for the 2017 season. For customers with Auto-renew, your 2017 subscription will not be renewed and the associated charge will not be applied to your account.  

Due to recent channel provider changes, as of September 7, 2017, NFL Sunday Ticket Channels: 1501-1518 (HD), 451-464 (SD) and Red Zone (channels 927 HD and 9927 SD) will no longer be available for the 2017 season. Premium Sports Double Play

Premium Sports Double Play will no longer be available for 2017. Over the next several weeks, TELUS will be making updates to your Optik TV digital box to improve performance and overall experience. Should your box be unresponsive, try rebooting either of the following:

Optik TV digita box
Gateway followed by the digital box

Once the upgrate is complete, you may notice some changes.

A green screen will appear, which means your digital box has been on standby for 4 hours or that you powered off your digital box.

This green screen will help you easily identify when the box is in standby mode
Standby mode ensures you can record programs while are asleep or away from home, and is designed to help you save on your energy bill
To continue watching, simple press the pwer button or OK button on your Optik TV remote

The widescreen standard option will be removed to provide your with the best Optik TV viewing experience for your TV screen size. This setting has been automatically adjusted to improve the look of programs on your TV.

You can go to your System setup
