Tech for Good

The Tech for Good™ program supports people with disabilities who require professional assistance to independently use or control their mobile device (e.g. iPhone, Android, iPad, Amazon Fire, Kindle, or Galaxy Tab). The program is primarily educational and provides customized training and support to help improve your quality of life, independence and personal empowerment.

Program highlights

  • Access to Assistive Technology Specialists with expert knowledge about accessibility challenges and assistive technologies

  • Personalized, virtual one-on-one assessment, recommendations and training on mobile devices and related assistive technologies

Eligibility

If you own a mobile device and have a disability, you may qualify for Tech for Good if you require one of the following:

  • Training and support on how to use your mobile device’s accessibility features

  • Recommendations on assistive technology, including apps, software and hardware for mobile devices

You do not need to be a TELUS customer to receive training through Tech for Good. The program supports people with disabilities regardless of their mobility provider.

Delivered by experts with specialized knowledge in accessibility barriers and assistive technologies, training is provided by March of Dimes Canada on behalf of TELUS. To learn more about how we can offer support, we invite you to apply for Tech for Good and discuss your individual needs with our Assistive Technology Specialists at March of Dimes Canada.

How assistive technology ensures digital accessibility

Most smartphones and tablets have many assistive technology features built in. Learn how assistive tech for mobile devices can help people with disabilities overcome common barriers and help them live more independently.

Assistive technology for visual impairment
Today, most smartphones and tablets have many assistive technology features built in. If you're visually impaired, these features can make it easier to use your device and improve independence. For example, you can adjust the screen's colour, contrast, and brightness to help visually separate objects. The TELUS Tech for Good program provides one-on-one training on your device’s assistive technology features and offers recommendations on additional tools to help you use your device to live more independently.
