Set up 2-step verification for My TELUS

1. Open the My TELUS app and log in if needed

2. Select the three horizontal line menu icon

   

3. Select Contact and security settings

   

4. Select 2-step verification

   

5. Select Turn on 2-step verification

   

6. On Step 1 of the setup process, select Turn on 2-step verification

   

To verify your identity, you’ll be sent a verification code via text.

1. Select the phone number you’d like the verification code sent to

   

2. Choose whether you prefer to receive your verification code via text or automated phone call

   

3. Select Send verification code

4. You will either receive a text or phone call with a 6-digit verification code

5. On the next step, enter the verification code you received, then select Turn on 2-step verification

   

Tip: If you didn't receive a code, try resending it or select a different contact method.

In case you lose access to the phone you’re using for 2-step verification, you’ll need another way to verify your identity. This is called your recovery method.

1. Choose your recovery method

   

   You may choose either the phone number you just verified, a different phone number or an email as your recovery method, as long as that phone number or email is not already being used to log into your My TELUS account

2. If you choose to set up a new recovery method, you will be sent another verification code to that email or phone number, and will need to enter it to complete the set up

3. Once you’ve selected your recovery method and entered your code, select Next to continue to the last step

2-step verification is now enabled. This means the next time you or someone else tries to log in on a new device or browser, they’ll be asked to enter a verification code, which you can find in your My TELUS app on the mobile phone you used to set up 2-step verification.

At this step you can also view and save your backup codes. These will be useful in case you lose access to your primary phone and your recovery methods.

1. Select View backup codes

   

2. Select Save to download the backup codes to your device
