Transitioning to a low carbon future
TELUS recognizes the growing material risks and opportunities associated with climate change. We aim to play a pivotal role in enabling Canada’s transition to a low-carbon economy by using our technology to significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across industries and government sectors for the benefit of all Canadians. We continue to take steps to enable long term climate resilience for our communities, our customers and our planet.
Science-based targets*
In 2025, we secured Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation for comprehensive climate targets aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, including:
- Net-zero across our value chain (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) by 2040
- 46% absolute reduction in operational (Scope 1 & 2) emissions by 2030
- 65% of suppliers by spend to have science-based targets by 2028

We are developing a detailed Climate Transition Plan that will outline how we will decarbonize our operations, manage climate-related risks and opportunities, and continue to accelerate the transition to a low carbon economy. As a first step, we have created a Climate Transition framework to provide an overview of our strategy to achieve our targets and the actions taken to date in support of our strategy.
Enabling avoided emissions
We are leveraging digital innovation and connectivity to enable avoided emissions through smart infrastructure, precision agriculture, remote work, telehealth and e-learning. We partnered with Roland Berger and Agendi to quantify the carbon emissions avoided through our products and services, using a science-based methodology to measure our broader impact on global decarbonization.

We are accelerating climate action by restoring nature with technology for communities and the environment. We deliver scalable nature-based solutions that protect and enhance biodiversity. Through

Drop off your pre-loved phones and tablets at a TELUS store and we’ll either responsibly recycle them to keep them out of landfills or upcycle them to connect a Canadian in need.
