Frequently asked questions

What does your business need before signing up?

A wireless internet connection that is at least 2.5 Mbps. If you don’t have internet, sign up for TELUS Office Internet and when you do, you’ll save $10 on your TELUS Secure Business monthly bill.

Will my existing security system work with TELUS Secure Business?

It depends. A TELUS Business agent can happily assess whether you can use existing hardware.

What if I don’t want a 3-year service commitment, can I take a 2 or 1 year commitment?

Only 3-year commitments are available at this time. If you wanted to end your service early, you would have to pay the remaining months of the agreement.

What if I move during my 3 year service agreement?

You will have to pay an installation charge so one of our technicians can install your service at your new location. This charge will vary depending on what needs to be moved, please contact us to find out more.

You also have the option of transferring the service to the new occupants/residents. If that’s not possible, a cancellation fee will apply.

What if I want to add more hardware to my package such as additional cameras?

You can always add additional equipment and services (additional charges may apply)

What if a piece of hardware breaks during my 3 years commitment?

While on contract all technical issues will be corrected by TELUS, certain restrictions may apply.

Do I need to apply for a security permit?

Yes, most municipalities in Canada require each business to have a security permit in the event emergency crews are dispatched due to an alarm.

Unfortunately, the rules are not the same for every city so it is best to search for your city’s permitting requirements online.

What is an insurance certificate and what does it do?

Having a monitored security system from TELUS can reduce insurance rates. If your insurance company offers such a discount, you can use your monthly bill issued to you as proof of the system.

Does my business need a custom security system set-up?

The Installation Fee is subject to variation based on the quantity of add-ons selected by the customer. The base Installation Fee is set at $549. New TELUS Secure Business customers who activate a TELUS Secure Business Monitor, or Protect plan on a 3-year or 5-year term online are eligible to receive a $100 credit on professional installation. Customers will be charged a rescheduling fee of $199 if the customer fails to be at the scheduled appointment time and/ or does not provide 24 hours notice in advance to reschedule.
