Troubleshoot a noisy Office Phone line
To identify the cause of noise, static or radio interference on your office phone, follow these steps:
If recent changes were made in the business location, remove any newly installed devices and retest
If there are multiple handsets within your location, determine if the issue is occurring on one or multiple handsets
If it is occurring on one handset, try using another jack or a different microfilter. If the problem persists, you should get the handset serviced
If it is occurring on multiple handsets, go to the next step
Unplug all equipment from every phone jack including fax machines, modems, splitters, etc.
Leave everything unplugged for at least 60 seconds
Plug in your most basic telephone, preferably a corded one
Check for any noise, static or radio interference
Add back equipment one piece at a time
Check for noise, static or radio interference after each addition. If the issue returns, remove the last piece of equipment added from the jack. It's probably causing the problem and you may want to have it checked
Note: If you are a TELUS high-speed Internet subscriber, you may require microfilters for each phone plugged into a wall jack.
