TELUS offers eligible seniors two Internet for Good plans with unlimited data: Internet 25 with speeds of up to 25 Mbit/s ($9.95/month), and Internet 50 with speeds of up to 50 Mbit/s ($19.95/month)
Rimouski (Quebec) – TELUS is proud to announce the launch of its
Internet for Good
program for Quebec senior citizens, offering high-speed Internet access to recipients of the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) for as little as $9.95 per month. The program is offered in eligible communities in the greater Quebec City region, Eastern Quebec and the Mauricie region, and will enable more senior citizens to keep in touch with their loved ones, take charge of their own well-being, and have access to important health, information and entertainment resources.“Many of our elders have been hard-hit by the pandemic and by isolation measures with about
33 percent
of Canada’s senior citizens reporting that their mental health has declined since the start of the pandemic. Through the Internet for Good program, our senior citizens are able to stay in virtual contact with their support network and the people they care about, while having affordable virtual access to resources that protect their mental and physical health,” says Marie-Christine D’Amours, Vice-President of Home Solutions and Customer Experience at TELUS in Quebec. “Our program and our network’s fast and reliable connectivity enables the most vulnerable senior citizens to continue with daily activities like learning remotely, accessing virtual health care services, and staying in touch with their family and friends.”Two reduced-price plans are available as part of the
Internet for Good
program for senior citizens:- Internet 25 with speeds of up to 25 Mbit/s, available for $9.95/month, and
- Internet 50 with speeds of up to 50 Mbit/s, available for $19.95/month
“Little Brothers salutes TELUS for launching this program, which will help to bridge the digital divide that affects too many senior citizens living alone. By providing home Internet service at an affordable monthly price for low-income seniors, the program will help to build connections between grandparents and their grandchildren, between patients and health care professionals, and more. Those connections are more important than ever during the ongoing pandemic, especially in light of the fact that isolation has an even more serious impact on seniors’ physical and mental health than that of the population as a whole,” notes Caroline Sauriol, director of the Little Brothers Foundation.
Launched in 2018 in Quebec, Internet for Good is available to 45,000 low-income families and people living with disabilities. The new component of this program will now provide to more than 30,000 eligible low-income seniors in the greater Quebec City region, Eastern Quebec and the Mauricie region with the option to get high-speed Internet service at a reduced cost. TELUS also offers additional programs for seniors, including Mobility for Good for Seniors, which enables them to stay in contact with their support network thanks to a low-cost smartphone and a subsidized mobile services plan.
Eligible seniors can submit their applications for Internet for Good at

. They must provide a copy of their T4A form from the Old Age Security program to prove that they receive the GIS. If the person does not have Internet access or an email address, they can submit their application by mail or get help from a friend, family member or social worker who can submit the application on their behalf.
