David McPhee, BSc, DVM, DACVPM
Dr. McPhee joined TELUS Agriculture, formerly known as Feedlot Health Management Services, in 2019 as a professional services veterinarian. He earned his B.Sc. in Biochemistry in 2007, then worked in laboratory research for several years before earning his DVM at Ontario Veterinary College in 2018. Originally from Southern Ontario, his first veterinary job was with the federal government, but he then moved West to work in feedlot consulting. He excelled at this work and now consults with several feedlots in Southern Alberta, Ontario, and the United States. He furthered his education in 2023 by becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, which gives him additional expertise in epidemiology, prevention of infectious disease, food safety, public health, and environmental health.
Dr. McPhee is passionate about data collection. To make informed decisions on the feedlot, data needs to be collected in a standardized way and reviewed regularly. Highly attentive to detail, he excels at translating this data into actionable recommendations for owners, managers, and crews. His greatest job satisfaction comes from sharing knowledge with crews and management to make the best possible decisions for each client.
