TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods is seeking a Release Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases. The primary goal is to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of software products or updates to end-users. This is a cross-functional position that requires coordination with various departments including the Product Management, Software Development, QA and Customer Experience Operations teams, to ensure a seamless and successful release process. It involves a wide range of activities including, managing release schedules, identifying and mitigating risks, and communicating with stakeholders to provide visibility into the release status. Our ideal candidate is a team player with strong analytical and communication skills, and a desire to understand client needs and how software applications can be configured to accommodate various use cases.
Here’s how
- Collaborate with product managers, development teams, and other stakeholders to create release plans.
- Define release scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain release schedules, taking into account dependencies and resource availability.
- Facilitate communication among cross-functional teams involved in the release process.
- Provide regular updates on release status, including potential risks and issues.
- Coordinate release activities, ensuring all teams are aligned and working towards common release goals.
- Identify potential risks and challenges that may impact the release timeline or quality.
- Work with relevant teams to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Collaborate with the QA team to ensure thorough testing of software releases.
- Implement and enforce quality gates to maintain the integrity of the release process.
- Oversee deployment process, ensuring a smooth transition from development to production environments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during deployment, coordinating with the necessary teams for resolution.
- Evaluate and analyze the release process, identifying areas for improvement.
- Implement best practices and optimize release processes to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Be passionate about developing in-depth knowledge of agriculture with the goal of becoming a leader in the integration of business, science and technological applications.
What you bring to this role:
- Experience in Software Development is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is an advantage.
- Strong background in project management and a PMP (project management certification) is an advantage.
- Proven experience as a Release Manager or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management principles.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with version control systems, continuous integration, and deployment tools.
- Excellent communication skills are required (written and verbal).
- Able to work under pressure, with conflicting priorities in a multiple stakeholder environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, as well as ability to work independently.
- Experience implementing software for agricultural service companies is an asset.

US Base Salary Range - $115,000 - $173,000 USD
