Celebrating the women of TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods: Michelle Nugara

NEWS & UPDATESDATE POSTED MARCH 15, 2023

We’re committed to bring more women to the table, promoting and celebrating diversity and inclusion on our team and in the communities where we live, work and serve.

For 2023, the United Nations’ theme for International Women’s Day is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” With women making up less than a third of the world’s workforce in tech-related fields, the theme calls on all of us to close the digital gender gap and celebrate women who are championing the advancement of transformative technology.* Diversity sows the seeds of innovation. Elevating different voices and ways of thinking can help unlock better data insights, decisions and solutions for all. In fact, analysis by McKinsey & Company found that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams were 25 per cent more likely to have above-average profitability than companies in the bottom quartile.**

Michelle Nugara is based in Australia, where she leads service delivery for our Trade Promotion Management solutions in the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region. Learn about her journey in tech and how she is driving innovation and transformative technology in our industry. What does your role entail? I oversee service delivery for Trade Promotion Management Enterprise for the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region. What do you enjoy about your job? I am inspired and challenged every day. Working alongside a team of talented and passionate individuals who are never satisfied with the status quo pushes me to be my best and in doing so allows them to be their best. I’m fortunate to be given the respect, autonomy and flexibility to develop the business and my teams as I see fit. Influencing people to reach their full potential and seeing my team members grow and flourish in their careers is incredibly satisfying, it makes my job feel meaningful and gives me a sense of purpose. What advice would you give to women who aspire to a role like yours? As women in leadership, it is important that we bring the best of who we are to the table. Do not feel that you need to emulate your male counterparts. If we do this, we will never have a truly diverse workplace. Stay true to who you are, stay humble, lead with compassion and nurture your team. In turn, your people will reward you with loyalty, respect and a willingness to bring fresh ideas, commitment and a drive to succeed. Practice resilience – it’s the quality that allows you to overcome stress and adversity. Consciously bringing optimism and a positive attitude to work every day, being self aware, regulating your emotions and viewing failure as a learning and development opportunity will set you well on a path to resilience.

We’re committed to promoting and celebrating diversity and inclusion across our business and within our communities. By embodying our values, we strive to help make life better for our customers, team members and the communities where we live, work and serve. Join us. Explore open roles.
