Set up mobile data usage notifications, blocks and preferences
Manage your notifications and limit data usage with the My TELUS Data Manager.
Notifications apply to your shared data plan and to any top-ups or roaming passes members may buy.
Login to your My TELUS profile
Select Usage
Select the appropriate plan using the tabs (if applicable)
In the Manage Your Plan section, select Manage notification and blocks to navigate to the Data Manager
Select Data Usage Notifications
Scroll the page to see your current notification settings for each plan on your account, then select Edit for the desired plan
To help you manage the right notifications, you can also Search for a subscriber to find their plan by entering their phone number in this field
Select each desired usage notification (eg. 50%, 100%, etc.), then select the Receive notifications for this plan checkbox to enable notifications
Select Save changes
Set up notifications, blocks and authorizations to avoid additional charges when data charges reach pre-set limits. This is applicable to pay-per-use data charges, travel passes and top-ups for the entire account.
To edit these settings, first navigate to the Additional Data Charges & Blocks section of the My TELUS Data Manager:
Login to your My TELUS profile
Select Usage
Select the appropriate plan using the tabs (if applicable)
In the Manage Your Plan section, select Manage notification and blocks to access the Data Manager
From the Data Manager, select Additional Data Charges & Blocks
Canadian Data Charges
Includes all pay-per-use charges and data top-up purchases on the account within Canada.
Scroll to the Canadian Data Charges section, then select Edit
Select Notify for each desired charge amount (eg. 10$, 20$, etc.)
To best avoid additional charges, you can instead select Block and Notify at each desired amount to automatically block additional Canadian date charges once the preset limit is reached
You can also instead Opt out of Canadian blocks and notifications by selecting Yes
Select Save changes
Roaming Data Charges
Includes all pay-per-use charges outside of Canada and travel pass purchases on the account.
Scroll to the Roaming Data Charges section, then select Edit
Select Notify for each desired charge amount (eg. 10$, 20$, etc.)
To best avoid additional charges, you can instead select Block and Notify at each desired amount to automatically block additional Canadian date charges once the preset limit is reached
You can also instead Opt out of Roaming blocks and notifications by selecting Yes
Select Save changes
Ability to unblock data
If data on the account is blocked, authorized users can unblock the account and allow additional charges by replying to the data block notification.
Once unblocked, all account members will be able use more data. If no additional data is added, all usage will be billed at the pay-per-use rate.
Scroll to the Ability to unblock data section, then select Edit
Under Authorize device?, select Yes for each user you wish to be able to unlock data
Select Save changes
Manage your notification preferences to receive real-time alerts via text and/or email for the account.
Login to your My TELUS profile
Select Usage
Select the appropriate plan using the tabs (if applicable)
In the Manage Your Plan section, select Manage notification and blocks to access the Data Manager
From the Data Manager, select Notification Preferences
Select Edit in the Data notifications section
Select each user phone number you wish to send notifications to
Select Save changes
