Automatic data block notifications
Automatic data overage blocks and data usage notifications from TELUS can help protect you from incurring unwanted data overage charges.

Data block notifications are only applicable to small businesses covered under the CRTC Wireless Code of Conduct.
Automatic overage blocks
$50 data usage block (per bill cycle)
Whether you use a feature phone, smartphone, tablet or mobile Internet key, TELUS will automatically block data services and notify you when you incur $50 in pay-per-use data charges per line during your monthly billing cycle.
$100 data roaming block (per bill cycle)
Whether you use a feature phone, smartphone, tablet or mobile Internet key, TELUS will automatically block data services and notify you when you when you reach $100 in pay-per-use data roaming charges during your monthly billing cycle.
If you have purchased a Roaming Passport, your $100 counter begins after you have used up the data included in your roaming passport. The $100 is cumulative across all zones in which you will be travelling. Once you begin a new bill cycle, the $100 counter will be reset.
Additional Details
- If you are using a feature phone or smartphone, you will be notified with a free TELUS text message
- If you wish to continue using data on your mobile phone, reply YES to the text notification or click on the link provided in the notification for options. You can also contact TELUS by dialing *611 from your TELUS mobile phone
- If you are using a mobile Internet key, you will be notified in your Internet browser
- If you are using a tablet, you will be notified in your Internet browser. You can also contact your account administrator to opt into email notifications for your tablet data usage blocks
- If you wish to continue using data on your tablet or mobile Internet key, click ‘Accept’ on the notification page or dial *611 from your TELUS mobile phone
- In Data Manager, account administrators can unblock a user if they choose
- In Data Manager, account users can see if they are blocked and - if given permission by the account administrators– can unblock themselves
- The block on your data service will be automatically removed at the start of the next monthly bill cycle. If you’re using a feature phone or smartphone, you will be notified with a free TELUS text message when your data service has been unblocked
Opting out of blocks and notifications
You may choose to opt out of automatic data overage blocks.
- To opt out, contact TELUS by dialing *611 from your TELUS mobile phone.
- An account administrator can opt out of all blocks and notifications via Data Manager
- An account administrator can also change an account user’s settings in the Data Manager to opt the user out of automatic overage blocks and notifications. An account user can only view the status of their notification settings.
