Troubleshooting for TELUS Business customers: Boost Wi-Fi (Actiontec T3200M)

Troubleshoot your Business Boost Wi-Fi when using an Actiontec T3200M modem

These instructions explain how to disable the Wi-Fi network running in the background of your Boost Wi-Fi network through your Wi-Fi modem.

Please select the correct instructions for your services:

  • Internet-only customers

  • Internet and Optik TV Customers - Smart Wi-Fi OFF

  • Internet and Optik TV Customers - Smart Wi-Fi ON

Note
: If your Smart Wi-Fi is ON, then you will see only one network name in your household.

Internet-only customers

Please follow these instructions if you are a TELUS customer who subscribes to a TELUS internet plan,
but does not subscribe to Optik TV
.

To disable your home Wi-Fi network, complete these steps while connected to the Wi-Fi on your modem:

  1. Connect to your modem's Wi-Fi network.

  2. Launch your web browser.

  3. Enter the following into the address bar:
    192.168.1.254

  4. From your keyboard, press
    Enter
    (
    Return
    ). The
    Home
    screen is displayed.

  5. To log in, enter the following information:

    • Username
      : admin

    • Password
      : It is printed on the side of the modem under GUI Access (unless you’ve changed it).

  6. Select Login. The
    Welcome
    screen is displayed.

    • If it is your first time logging into your modem you will be asked if you would like to change your password.

  7. From the top of the next screen, select
    Wireless Setup
    . The
    Basic Settings
    screen is displayed.

  8. Change the
    Wireless Radio
    field(s) to
    Disable
    to turn off your Wi-Fi network.
    Note
    : If you have
    Smart Wi-Fi
    turned off, you will see two
    Wireless Radio
    fields. Please ensure that you select
    Disable
    for both of these radio fields before saving your changes.

  9. Select
    Apply
    to save your changes.

Internet & Optik TV customers - Smart Wi-Fi OFF

Please follow these instructions if you are a TELUS internet customer who also subscribes to Optik TV, and Smart Wi-Fi is turned off. If Smart Wi-Fi is turned off, you should have two different Wi-Fi network names in your home: one ending in -2.4Ghz and one ending in -5Ghz.

To disable your home Wi-Fi network, complete these steps:

  1. Connect to your modem's Wi-Fi network.

  2. Launch your web browser.

  3. Enter the following into the address bar:
    192.168.1.254

  4. From your keyboard, press
    Enter
    (
    Return
    ). The
    Home
    screen is displayed.

  5. To log in, enter the following information:

    • Username
      : admin

    • Password
      : it is printed on the side of the modem under GUI Access (unless you’ve changed it)

  6. Select Login. The
    Welcome
    screen is displayed.

    • If it is your first time logging into your modem you will be asked if you would like to change your password.

  7. From the top of the next screen, select
    Wireless Setup
    . The
    Basic Settings
    screen is displayed.

  8. Change the Basic Settings fields listed as follows:
    Frequency
    : 2.4G
    Wireless Radio
    : Disable
    Note
    :
    Do not
    turn off the the Wireless Radio setting for your 5G network, as this will interfere with your Optik TV service.

  9. Select
    Apply
    to save your changes.

Internet & Optik TV Customers - Smart Wi-Fi ON

Please follow these instructions if you are a TELUS internet customer who also subscribes to Optik TV, and Smart Wi-Fi is turned on. If Smart Wi-Fi is turned on, you should have only one Wi-Fi network name in your home.

To disable your home Wi-Fi network, complete these steps:

  1. Connect to your modem's Wi-Fi network.

  2. Launch your web browser.

  3. Enter the following into the address bar:
    192.168.1.254

  4. From your keyboard, press
    Enter
    (
    Return
    ). The Home screen is displayed.

  5. To log in, enter the following information:

    • Username
      : admin

    • Password
      : it is printed on the side of the modem under GUI Access (unless you’ve changed it)

  6. Select
    Login
    . The
    Welcome
    screen is displayed.

    • If it is your first time logging into your modem you will be asked if you would like to change your password.

  7. From the top of the next screen, select
    Wireless Setup
    . The
    Basic Settings
    screen is displayed.

  8. From the
    Wireless Settings
    menu on the left, select
    SmartSteering
    .

  9. Select
    Disable
    , and click
    Apply
    to save the changes.

  10. Return to the
    Basic Settings
    page of the
    Wireless Settings
    menu.

  11. Change the
    Basic Settings
    fields listed as follows:
    Frequency
    : 2.4G
    Wireless Radio
    : Disable
    Note
    : Do NOT turn off the the Wireless Radio setting for your 5G network, as this will interfere with your Optik TV service.

  12. Select
    Apply
    to save your changes.
