TELUS Secure Business security system network issues
Learn more about the possible causes of your security system’s network and communication issues.
Your TELUS Secure Business security system communicates using a GSM or cellular network. These systems are automatically programmed to send constant communication test pings. When our monitoring station does not receive this test ping, we will contact you to inform you of the failed communication test.
Below are possible causes of the issues and resolutions for your TELUS Secure Business security system’s network issues.
Power outage
Your system does not have power. Although your security system should have a backup battery, these batteries do not last indefinitely and may be depleted during long power outages.
How to resolve
:
Restore the power to your system.
Check for an AC loss indicator on the keypad. If the AC power is on in the building, locate and check the transformer. Make sure it is plugged in. If there is a problem with the outlet, please call an electrician.
Poor cell reception
Your system is located in an area with poor cellular reception.
How to resolve
:
This will require a technician to relocate your communicator or to install a signal booster.
Missed test signal
It's possible that your security system may have temporarily missed the test signal. This can happen if the cell reception is interrupted temporarily.
How to resolve
:
Perform a manual communication test from the keypad.
Note
: Be sure to place your system on "test" mode before starting any tests.
