Important new features and updates for TELUS Business Connect 24.2 release
The latest core release for TELUS Business Connect® 24.2 will be implemented on May 31, 2024. The desktop and mobile app releases will take place on June 3.
Here is a summary of the new features available, which edition they impact and the updates which are part of the release.
Unified Desktop App
To help simplify administration and improve the user experience, the following updates will be implemented on May 31, 2024 for Enhanced, Complete and Complete Plus editions.
Enhanced support is available for Safari-browser users. Users will have access to both signed-in and signed-out functionalities with limited access to complex features.
You can create personal SMS templates for sending recurring SMS messages. You no longer need to copy and paste the same messages multiple times for recurring tasks.
You can select multiple text messages and export them to a text file that you can save, download or print. This is particularly useful when you need to export a text conversation with your customer to a file, so you can print or save it to your company’s system for compliance purposes.
You can now turn off Desktop Pairing Mode banner reminders that let you know when your location changes.
Quickly video-call your recent contacts and view your recent recordings directly from the
Video
tab. Video recordings and recent contacts are now displayed on the right-hand side of the
Video
tab for better visibility.
You can invite other users to a video call in both the web and desktop apps. You no longer need to send a meeting link or ID to have another user join the call. Simply call them and they can join with just a click.
Users and administrators will receive push notifications (either banner reminders or pop-up prompts) to update to the latest desktop app.
Unified Mobile App
To provide a more user-friendly experience, the following updates will be implemented on June 3, 2024 for all editions except Voice.
You can now join a meeting from a Safari browser on iOS.
You can create personal SMS templates in both the mobile and desktop apps.
Searching your contacts is easier. You can now filter your contacts by department.
You can quickly respond to a text message with a thumbs-up emoji by just double-tapping the message.
The SMS grouping functionality introduced in the desktop app as part of the 24.1 release is also now available in the mobile app.
Admin and Core/Voice Manager
The following updates will be available for all editions.
In the Voice Manager, you can access the latest release notes for Business Connect by going to the
Release Notes
tab.
Administrators can restrict the type of phone number users can display as their outbound caller ID to either the company number, site number or direct number.
The Call Queue settings template and bulk Call Queue creation templates are now automatically enabled.
Administrators managing the company's call log can now save frequently used search and filter settings, so finding desired call records is faster and easier. Saved search and filter settings can also be applied when downloading or scheduling the delivery of call log records. This way, the data included in the downloaded file is specific to your needs.
Incoming calls to phone numbers assigned to users can now be disconnected or redirected to the company's main number. This feature supports organizations with users who need the ability to make outbound calls, but are not allowed to receive direct incoming calls.
Analyzing reports and calls logs is easier with “Call Answered Elsewhere” notifications replacing “Missed call" notifications for calls routed to multiple endpoints. This function is available for Cisco, Poly and Yealink phones, and in both the desktop and mobile apps.
The new notification applies to the following types of calls:
Rooms (Android, Mac, Windows)
The following updates will be available for all editions with a purchased license.
IT admin can customize digital signage to operate on a week-day schedule from the Voice Manager. The Rooms system will display digital signage during the scheduled operation time and will stop displaying outside of that window.
IT admin can remotely control Rooms meeting settings, so that they don't have to go into each room to manage those settings on the controller.
Integrations
The following updates will be available for all editions.
MS Teams embedded app can now support headsets, specifically the Jabra and Plantronics headsets.
The Google Chrome Extension will be upgraded to Google Manifest Version 3 (MV3) to improve the privacy, security and performance of extensions.
The Call Queue name will appear for an inbound call in SalesForceDotCom (SFDC) and HubSpot Integrations for incoming call user interface (UI), caller info area (located at the top of the call log UI), call history and active call list.
Hardware
Available for all editions except Voice.
Configuring your device via assisted provisioning now features a copy-to-clipboard link, so you can easily save the on-screen step-by-step instructions to a document for later use.
