Our TELUS team’s commitment to a world without breast cancer runs deep. We are passionately dedicated to the health of our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and friends and continue to work diligently to fund innovative research and treatment options to find a cure and improve patient experiences for those undergoing treatment.
Our pink journey began in 2008, where we kicked off our first campaign in support of breast cancer, partnering with Rethink Breast Cancer through the sales of pink BlackBerrys. Since then, we have run more than five national Go Pink campaigns, partnering with leading-edge breast cancer charities to raise awareness of the cause and invite Canadians to join us and do something about it.
Go Pink throughout the years:
- In 2010, we launched the Go Pink campaign, which brought advanced health technology to women in local communities by funding the purchase of digital mammography equipment. The campaign was built around one simple idea: Go pink with TELUS to give the gift of health to women in your community. For every Facebook profile picture turned pink, TELUS donated $1 to the purchase of early detection equipment and we also donated $25 for every pink BlackBerry sold. In less than 48 hours, we surpassed our social participation target of 50,000 with a total of over 817,000 people turning their Facebook profiles pink! The viral TELUS campaign became one of the top social media campaigns in the world and led to a $2.5 million donation to fund digital mammography technology across Canada.
- In 2011, we worked with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, inviting Canadians to join the Pink Network through the purchase of Pink Blackberry Curves.
- In 2012, we launched Pink Out Loud on social media in partnership with Rethink Breast Cancer and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation whereby Facebook fans turned their profile and cover photos pink to enable a donation to the cause.
- In 2013, our Raise Your Paws for the Cause campaign benefiting Rethink Breast Cancer and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation made a donation to our partners for every white Samsung Galaxy S4 purchased.
Since 2008, TELUS has given more than $5.8 million to breast cancer detection, treatment and research. Highlighting our heartfelt commitment to the health of all Canadians, our national Pink campaigns bring TELUS and our customers together to support the women in their lives.
