The Breakfast Club of Canada: Ensuring children have access to nutritious food

Jul 8, 2020

As organizations, schools and charities were forced to pivot to their new normal during COVID-19, the urgency to feed children in need has not gone away. The Breakfast Club of Canada (BCC), who typically feeds 250,000 children daily through its school programs, is ensuring that these children still receive access to nutritious food, even with in-person classes operating differently.

Through a grant of $100k from the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, the BCC is ensuring that its programs remain active so that children who rely on its services and new families who join the program – including many who have lost income during the crisis – are able to find support. With this grant, food hampers and premade meals are being distributed along with grocery gift cards to help families struggling with food insecurity.

“When schools closed in March, Breakfast Club of Canada’s efforts were immediately focused on finding new ways to reach children and to continue our mission to feed kids in vulnerable situations,” said Paul Lethbridge, Director, Development and Donor Engagement at Breakfast Club of Canada.

We thank the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation for making sure that the increasing needs of vulnerable communities across Canada are met, and that we all get through these tough times, together.”

Through the support of the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, we’re helping to ensure that children in need have access to healthy meals and can reach their full potential. With the need for growing aid throughout the pandemic, we’re proud to continue to support healthier communities across Canada.
