Set up TELUS email on your computer using Outlook 2016

Learn how to set up your TELUS email

Not your email client?

  1. Open Outlook 2016
  2. If you have not previously setup an account in Outlook:
    1. You will see a welcome message, click Next
    2. On the next screen select Yes , and click Next
  3. If you have previously setup another account in Outlook
    1. Click File , found at the top left of the screen
    2. From the left pane, select Info
    3. Select +Add Account
  4. Select Manual setup or additional server types
  5. Fill out the following information:
    • Your Name: This is what others will see when you email them
    • Email Address: Your TELUS email address
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming Mail Server: imap.telus.net
    • Outgoing Mail Sever: smtp.telus.net
    • User Name: Your email account username (usually your email address)
    • Password: Your TELUS email password
  6. Check the Remember password check box
  7. Click More Settings…
  8. Under the Outgoing Server tab
    1. Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
    2. Select Log on Using
      1. User Name: Your email account username (usually your email address)
      2. Password: Your TELUS email password
      3. Check the Remember password check box
      4. Check the Require Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box
  9. Under the Adv anced tab
    1. Incoming server (IMAP): 993
    2. Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
    3. Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
    4. Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
  1. Click Ok
  2. Click Next if required
  3. Outlook will run its checks and attempt to login to the email server
  4. If you receive an error message, ensure your TELUS password is correct by logging in to TELUS email
