Supplier Sustainability

TELUS recognizes the intricate nature of our extensive global supply chain and the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks associated with this. Our Sustainable Supplier Program is leading the way to embed sustainable practices among our supply chain.

Our approach to achieving a sustainable supply chain

During the tender process, we include a 10% scoring weight to assess the supplier’s ESG program, initiatives and progress.
All suppliers undergo a global watch-list check for ESG risks, with key suppliers also responding to an ESG assessment.
We only contract with suppliers that accept our TELUS
Supplier Code of Conduct
or equivalent recognised high standards.
We conduct supplier ESG audits as part of the
Joint Alliance for CSR (JAC)
association of telecom operators, and manage performance through business reviews.

Setting supplier expectations

In alignment with our TELUS corporate goal to become carbon neutral in our operations by 2030, we are working with our suppliers and setting expectations for them to:
Develop and report a company-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory
As a
CDP Supply Chain member
, we request that key suppliers report their Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions annually through the CDP Climate Change questionnaire.
Set an absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target for Scope 1 & 2 emissions, aligned with science
Supporting our
science-based target
to reduce Scope 3 supply chain emissions, we request that suppliers set their own science-aligned GHG reduction targets (SBTi validated or equivalent). Setting ambitious targets demonstrates our suppliers’ alignment with our own strategy to contribute to reducing carbon emissions in line with the global target for a 1.5°C future.
Support TELUS requests for data, engagement and collaboration
Creating a sustainable supply chain can only be achieved through collaborations. We expect our suppliers to work with TELUS to drive innovation and tangible progress in sustainability.
