Canada’s first 24/7 4K HDR network launches exclusively for TELUS Optik TV customers

Travelxp 4K HDR is now available for Optik TV customers in B.C. and Alberta
Vancouver – The best keeps getting better for TELUS Optik TV customers in British Columbia and Alberta. TELUS has announced the debut of Travelxp 4K HDR, a global travel and lifestyle channel, marking the first time a network broadcasting 24/7 in lifelike 4K HDR is available in Canada. Already the only TV provider in Western Canada to offer 4K HDR content, TELUS now allows Optik TV customers the choice to experience 4K HDR either On Demand or via an always-on channel.
Capable of displaying more than a billion colours, 4K HDR provides an unmatched viewing experience, with on-screen colours appearing more vivid and lifelike than ever before. Enhancing the quality of existing 4K technology, 4K HDR improves the colour contrast range so each individual pixel has millions of additional colour options. This enhanced range means objects appear to have have greater depth and detail, providing the viewer an even more immersive, realistic experience.
“4K HDR has set a new standard for TV picture quality and TELUS is excited to provide our customers with access to the first 24/7 4K HDR channel in Canada, in addition to our growing library of 4K HDR On Demand options,” said Blair Miller, VP, Consumer Products and Content at TELUS. “The stunning imagery on Travelxp 4K HDR is a natural fit to showcase the vivid picture of 4K HDR and we look forward to offering more 4K HDR-capable channels.”
Travelxp 4K HDR offers 100% originally-produced premium travel and lifestyle programming and is distributed to over 50 million homes globally. TELUS Optik TV customers in British Columbia and Alberta can find Travelxp 4K HDR on channel 716. Customers that do not yet have 4K HDR-capable TVs can still enjoy Travelxp in 4K, HD or standard definition.
For a limited time, new Optik TV and Internet customers who sign up on a two-year term can receive a free 50” LG 4K HDR Smart TV to enjoy the jaw-dropping picture quality 4K HDR offers.
