Our response to COVID-19
Dear shareholders, customers and communities,
In 2020, our working, educational and social lives have changed dramatically. As citizens, employees and employers, we have had to respond in unprecedented ways to keep our families, colleagues and fellow citizens safe, informed, healthy and productive.
#StayStrongStayConnected
It is inspiring to see the many ways Canadians are staying strong and demonstrating gratitude and kindness during these times. Help inspire others by tagging #StayStrongStayConnected and share how we are all in this together.
Keeping our team and customers safe, virtually
To help keep you connected and protected, TELUS technicians are now providing virtual support for all installs and repairs, with in-home support being provided for lifeline or emergency services.
Expanding digital healthcare
Babylon by TELUS Health
As we all take important precautions to practice social distancing, Babylon by TELUS Health lets you access healthcare services on your smartphone and in the comfort and safety of your own home. Through our virtual healthcare app, you have access to a free, customized COVID-19 online symptom checker, and patients in B.C., Alberta and Ontario can schedule a one-on-one video consultation with a licensed doctor at no cost.
Health for Good
Everyone deserves to receive healthcare with dignity. Our Health for Good program brings medical care and mental health support directly to those who need it most through specially equipped mobile health clinics. To help during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are repurposing our mobile health clinics to make them available for curbside testing to front-line healthcare workers.
TELUS Home Health Monitoring
TELUS Health is expanding digital home health monitoring to enable healthcare providers to monitor patients remotely while they recover from COVID-19 in their own homes. Using a web-based dashboard, healthcare providers can remotely track symptoms and provide medical help for more patients, reducing trips to the hospital, optimizing clinical resources and relieving pressure on our healthcare system.
Caring for our communities
TELUS Friendly Future Foundation
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our TELUS Friendly Future Foundation has donated $10 million to help urgently support and enhance public healthcare capacity and community response across Canada. This new funding will go toward purchasing new medical technology and equipment, such as ventilators, as well as increased support for food security, outreach to isolated seniors, virtual education programs and mental health initiatives.
Mobility for Good
To date, through our Mobility for Good program, we have donated over 10,000 free phones, tables and prepaid SIM cards, valued at over $5 million, to help ensure those most impacted by COVID-19, including isolated seniors, hospitalized patients and vulnerable Canadians, have access to the devices and services needed to stay in touch with healthcare professionals and their loved ones.
Internet for Good
We are providing two months of free service to all low-income families enrolled in our Internet for Good program to help them manage the financial challenges associated with COVID-19. We are also partnering with school boards in Alberta and B.C. to extend our offer directly to students in need to ensure they have the connectivity they need to learn from home. Internet for Good provides high-speed internet at home for only $9.95 per month.
